lecture will take place at 7 p.m. at the church.

This concert will highlight the talents of piano accompanist Ann Moore, an invaluable asset to the chorale, said Artistic Director Peter Pocock.

``Beethoven's 'Choral Fantasy' will showcase Ann's exceptional talents,'' he said. ``This work builds from piano solo The piano is often used to provide harmonic accompaniment to a voice or other instrument. However, solo parts for the piano can be found in some musical styles. These can take the form of a section in which the piano is heard more prominently than other instruments, or in which the piano , through a piano and orchestral dialogue, to a choral, orchestral and piano grand finale that audiences will thoroughly enjoy.''

``Choral Fantasy'' was written in 1808 and premiered in Vienna with Beethoven playing the piano and conducting the chorus and orchestra. Soloists for the chorale performance will include Jill Hackett, Mary Purdy, Pat Moynihan, Legend Ackley, Michael Best and Matt Hogan.

Mozart wrote ``Requiem'' while ill, and died before completing more than a rough sketch of the later movements. Competed by Mozart's protege, Sussmayer, ``Requiem'' premiered in December 1792, a year after Mozart's death, as part of a tribute concert. Soloists for the chorale performance will be Leslie Garman, Delia Curiel, Best and Wally Purdy.

``Mozart's 'Requiem' is equally exciting for performer and listener alike,'' Pocock said. ``Although Mozart began the work as a commission, it gained personal inspiration as he became gravely ill.''

The Santa Clarita Master Chorale is an all-volunteer chorus, now 53 voices strong, dedicated to fostering a love of fine choral music. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday and will cost $17 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at Cobblestone Cottage in Valencia, or by calling the chorale at (661) 254-8886.
