MASTER CHORALE TO KICK OFF NEW SEASON WITH COLLEGE OF CANYONS HOLIDAY SHOW.Byline: Daily News SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, -- The Santa Clarita Master Chorale chorale (kōrăl`, –räl`), any of the traditional hymns of the German Protestant Church. The form was developed after the Reformation to replace the plainsong of the earlier service and as a means of congregational participation in has announced the schedule for its eighth season, which will begin Dec. 3 with a holiday program at College of the Canyons' Performing Arts Center A performing arts center, often abbreviated PAC, is a multi-use performance space that can be adapted for use by various types of the performing arts, including dance, music and theatre. . ``Holiday Lights'' will be staged at 3:30 p.m. and feature music of the season. Highlights will include new arrangements of familiar carols, John Rutter's ``Magnificat'' and David Brubeck's ``We Three Kings.'' Jeffrey Biegel's ``Christmas in a Minute'' and the ``Twelve Days of Christmas'' by Craig Courtney will return by popular demand. The middle concert is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. March 18. This year's chosen classical masterwork mas·ter·work n. See masterpiece. is Felix Mendelssohn's ``Elijah,'' one of the most popular oratorios of all time. The chorale will present this work with professional soloists and instrumentalists, and there will be a pre-concert lecture at 2:30 p.m. The chorale will wrap up the 2006-07 season with ``Songs Without Borders A number of NGOs have adopted the "Without Borders" tag, inspired by Doctors without Borders.
Included in this concert will be John Leavitt's medley from ``Fiddler on the Roof'' and Ariel Quintana's ``Mass From Two Worlds,'' a piece with touches of South American rhythm, shades of Noun 1. shades of - something that reminds you of someone or something; "aren't there shades of 1948 here?" reminder - an experience that causes you to remember something French and ventures into Renaissance and Romanticism.
