MAST construction gets food for thought in Jersey.


Hudson County Community College Hudson County Community College is an accredited, co-educational, two-year, public, community college located in Hudson County, New Jersey. The school's urban campus is located in Jersey City, New Jersey, and is accessible via the PATH rapid-transit railroad system.  held a ceremony recently to celebrate the "topping out" of its new Culinary Arts Institute and Conference Center in Jersey City. MAST Construction Services, Inc. serves as the construction manager for the school.

The $25 million project involves the construction of a new 73,000 s/f, five-story Georgian Revival-style building on the College's Journal Square campus. The additional space will accommodate the College's fast-growing Culinary Arts and Hospitality programs, enabling it to expand its program from 250 to 500 students.

The new building will house eight kitchens, including production and line kitchens, bakery, hot foods, garde manger Garde manger [gaʀd mã.ʒe], a French term meaning "keeping to eat" or "keeper of the food", refers to the task of preparing and presenting cold foods. , pastry/finishing and an ice carving/butchery area.

A state-of-the-art business conference center and 300-person banquet facility will also be constructed, along with seven general classrooms, facility offices and adjunct workspaces.
