MASSAGE PARLOR STING LEADS TO ARREST OF FIVE.Byline: Lisa Van Proyen Daily News Staff Writer Three employees and two customers of the New Image Professional Health Club were arrested Thursday night in a sting operation where officers said more than just massages were being solicited. One female employee was arrested on suspicion of prostitution, and two other female employees were arrested on suspicion of ``keeping a disorderly house disorderly house n. 1) polite term for house of prostitution. 2) place of illegal gambling.'' - in essence, running an illegal business, said Sgt. Dan Mastro of the LAPD's West Valley Division. Detectives from the division's vice unit in conjunction with detectives from downtown's organized crime and the administrative vice divisions first went undercover as customers at the health club in the 21000 block of Sherman Way, Mastro said. The workers were arrested and then detectives did a ``reverse sting'' operation by posing as employees and arresting customers who paid for a massage and then asked for a sexual act for money, Mastro said. The employee arrested on suspicion of prostitution was identified as Sook Kim. Soon Russell and Sun Lim were arrested on suspicion of ``keeping a disorderly house.'' The customers were identified as Christos Skianis, 36, and Farhad Toutouni, 24. Both were booked on suspicion of solicitation for prostitution and released on their own recognizance own recognizance (O.R.) n. the basis for a judge allowing a person accused of a crime to be free while awaiting trial, without posting bail, on the defendant's own promise to appear and his/her reputation. The judge may consider the seriousness of the crime charged, the likelihood the defendant will always appear, the length of time the person has lived in the area, his/her reputation in the community, his/her employment, financial burdens, and the, Mastro said. |
