MARTIN MARIETTA RECEIVES $150 MILLION NAVY CONTRACT FOR ADVANCED DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT

BETHESDA, Md., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Martin Marietta Corporation (NYSE: ML) has received a $150 million contract from the U.S. Navy to produce advanced diagnostic equipment to test a wide variety of existing and future electronic and avionic systems used by the Navy.
The Consolidated Automated Support System, or CASS, is a self- contained diagnostic unit designed to increase Navy repair capabilities, decrease spare parts and training requirements and reduce the physical space currently required for testing.
Martin Marietta Automation Systems will build 69 CASS units under the new contract, beginning deliveries in second quarter 1994 and continuing into 1995.
CASS final assembly and test will take place at a low-cost Martin Marietta manufacturing facility in Americus, Ga., with Automation Systems providing program management from its Daytona Beach, Fla., location.
