MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY CALENDAR OF EVENTS.

Monday:

Annual MLK Day March, sponsored by Eugene-Springfield chapter of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, begins at the Serbu Juvenile Justice Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Eugene, 9 a.m. March proceeds to EWEB headquarters. Bring a sign. 431-1119.

Martin Luther King Jr. Contest and Celebration, Springfield Middle School, 1084 G St., 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Keynote speech by Lyllye Parker of UO Office of Multicultural Affairs. Emcees are Springfield schools Superintendent Nancy Golden and Eugene schools Superintendent George Russell. Music by high school students Josh and James Harmon, Eugene Peace Choir, UO Gospel Choir. Student entries in art, poetry and essay will be judged and exhibited. Lead sponsor is Springfield Alliance for Equality and Respect (SAFER). 485-1755 or 342-1953.

Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at the Hult Center, Eugene, 7 p.m. Author Ralph Wiley will give the keynote speech, "Should America be the Moral Police of the World?" Lead sponsor is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee. 685-1791 or 868-6050.
