MARSHFIELD MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BANK ROBBERY CHARGE TODAY
BOSTON, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- A Marshfield man pleaded guilty today to a bank robbery charge.
United States Attorney Wayne A. Budd announced that James J. Larocca, Jr., age 43, formerly of 774 Ocean St. Marshfield, Mass., pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Rya W. Zobel after a jury was empaneled to try a one-count indictment charging him with the bank robbery of a branch of the Provident Institution for Savings located at 552 Freeport St., Dorchester, Mass. At the plea hearing, a federal prosecutor advised Judge Zobel that on March 20, 1991 Larocca entered the Provident Institution for Savings and demanded that the teller give him all the money. Larocca had his hand in his jacket pocket and pointed what appeared to be a gun at the teller. The teller gave Larocca $1,599.00 and Larocca fled from the bank. Larocca was arrested the next day and confessed to the crime.
Judge Zobel scheduled sentencing for Jan. 17, 1992 at 2 p.m. Larocca faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the cooperation of the Marsfield Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sharen Litwin of the Major Crimes Division in Budd's Office.
