MARRIED 65 YEARS: BETTY AND BOB TOWER.

Betty and Bob Tower of Newbury Park celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a family reunion on June 28 at home.

They met in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1937 and were married eight months later on June 28, 1938, in Buffalo. They moved to Los Angeles in 1949.

Betty worked as a store manager at May Co. for 17 years, retiring in 1964. She belonged to the Delta Epsilon sorority sorority: see fraternity. .

 when he was 30 years old. He worked at General Motors for 43 years, retiring in 1981.

Betty and Bob enjoy traveling to Hawaii, cruising around the world, ballroom dancing and square dancing.

They have two children: Marilyn McIntosh of Ashland, Ore., and Betty Elaine of Canoga Park. They also have six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: FRANK AND MARCELLA CETRONE

Frank and Marcella Cetrone of North Hollywood celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family on July 19.

The couple met at a dance in Washington, D.C., in 1942 while Marcella was working for the Treasury Department and Frank was in the Army. After Frank entered the Air Force, he moved to Montgomery, Ala., where he and Marcella were married on July 24, 1943. They moved to North Hollywood in 1946.

Marcella graduated from Monessen High School in Pennsylvania and worked odd jobs during the war. She later worked as a housewife and helped Frank with his bookkeeping.

They have four children: Cynthia Cetrone of North Hollywood, Candice Allbritain of Upland, Carla Smith of Reno, Nev., and Clete Cetrone of Canyon Country. They also have two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ina and Lou Press of Sherman Oaks celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family and friends on July 19 at Cafe Cordiale in Sherman Oaks.

Lou worked as an electrical contractor in the Valley from 1946 until his retirement in 1979. He is the past president of the Temple Beth Hillel Brotherhood and the Santa Cruz County Santa Cruz County is the name of two counties in the United States:

Ellie and Jim Needham of Woodland Hills celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with their friends and family on July 5 in Palm Desert.

Ellie and Jim met in high school and were married July 3, 1948, at St. Martini Church in Chicago. They moved to Woodland Hills in 1957.

Ellie graduated from Harper High School in Chicago in 1945. She worked as secretary of Litton Systems Inc. in Woodland Hills for 27 years, retiring in 1990.

Jim graduated from Harper High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy for 2 1/2 years in the submarine service in the South Pacific. He was also a Santa Monica police officer for 20 years, as a sergeant, and served as one of the force's first helicopter pilots, retiring in 1977.

The couple enjoy taking cruises around the world and are very active at Canoga Park Lutheran Church.

They have three children: Bill of Woodland Hills, Rick of Woodland Hills and Jim of Aurora, Colo. They also have two grandchildren.

Bob and Susi Burns of Reseda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on May 18 at Billingsley's Restaurant in Van Nuys. They also renewed their wedding vows at their anniversary celebration.

Bob and Susi met in Long Beach and were married May 16, 1953. at St. Bernard's in Bellflower.

Susi and Bob opened some of the first health clubs for men and women around the country in the 1950s. Bob retired from the business in 1989, and Susi retired in 2000.

They have six children: Bob of Irvine; Scott of Las Vegas; Mark of Boulder Creek, Calif.; Kevin of Morristown, N.J.; Thomas of Reseda; and Jennifer of Winnetka. They have five grandchildren.

Marvin and Miriam Bromberg of Van Nuys celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family and friends June 14 at Mountain Valley Swim and Racquetball Club in Simi Valley.

They met at a party and dated on and off for four years. They were married June 13, 1953, at Larchmont Hall in Los Angeles.

Miriam was born in Memphis, Tenn., and lived in Clarksdale, Miss., until her family moved to California when she was 11. She graduated from Los Angeles High School Los Angeles High School, founded in 1873, is the oldest public high school in the Southern California Region and in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Its colors are blue and white and the teams are called the Romans.  in 1950, and she attended Los Angeles City College Los Angeles City College, known as LACC, is a public community college in the Hollywood section of Los Angeles, California. A part of the Los Angeles Community College District, it is located on Vermont Avenue south of Santa Monica Boulevard. . She retired from Kaiser Permanente after 16 years as a clinic assistant and receptionist.

Marvin was born in Minneapolis and attended North High School, but graduated from high school while in the Army. He came to California in 1949, after being discharged from the Army after a year and a half of service. and graduated from Los Angeles City College in 1951. He worked as a salesman, fabric manufacturer and representative in the furniture upholstery business and later owned an upholstery fabric service before retiring in 1989.

They have three children: Sandra Redman of Mammoth Lakes, Bruce Bromberg of Simi Valley and David Bromberg of Valencia. They have four grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: JAMES AND FRANCES CAMARET

James and Frances Camaret of North Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 23 at the Galley Restaurant in Santa Monica.

They met in beauty school in 1947 and were married at the Unitarian Church in Westwood on July 24, 1953.

 and beauty school at Santa Monica College Santa Monica College was first opened in 1929 as Santa Monica Junior College. Current enrollment is 32,000 students in more than 90 fields of study. The college also has one of the largest international student populations of any community college in the US, with approximately  in the 1940s. She worked as a hairdresser for 15 years before becoming a housewife. She also worked at a motorcycle set-up business that she and James owned from 1970-79, and later as a school bus driver until her retirement in 1991.

James attended University High School and also beauty school at Santa Monica College. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving for four years. He worked as a hairdresser for 20 years before selling his salon and working with Frances at the motorcycle set-up business. He later went to work for Budweiser, retiring in 1991.

James is a former motorcycle racer, and he and Frances still enjoy riding them.

They have two children: Timothy of Simi Valley and Craig of North Hills. They also have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: FRANK AND PAT CAPELL

Frank and Pat Capell of Thousand Oaks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on June 8 with a barbecue dinner party at their daughter's house in Simi Valley.

They met through a friend in Oregon when Frank was on leave from the Korean War in 1951. They were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Sacred Heart Catholic Church can refer to:

Frank attended business school in Kansas and served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. He worked as a traveling salesman of automotive parts for 35 years and has been self-employed at Engine Place in Ventura for 17 years.

They have five children: Sandy Papaleo of Simi Valley, Debbie Jackson of Moorpark, Jolene Dilucchio of Palmdale, Cherie Rowe of Thousand Oaks and Mark Capell of Thousand Oaks. They also have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
