MARRIED 60 YEARS: WILLIAM AND LILLYMAE GREENE.

William and Lillymae Greene of Arleta celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 4 with friends at Carrow's Restaurant in Van Nuys.

William was working as a taxi driver when he met Lillymae. She was a waitress at the time. He didn't have enough money for a tip after he had lunch, so he gave her a big bear hug Bear Hug

Lillymae graduated from Man High School in West Virginia. She later worked as a secretary.

William graduated from Ethel High School, also in West Virginia. He worked as a police officer, then as a security manager and private investigator. He was also a co-owner of an auto dealership. He's been a member of Masonic Lodge No. 542.

The Greenes are both members of the Order of the Eastern Star The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world that both men and women can join. It was established in 1850 by Rob Morris, a lawyer and educator from Boston, Massachusetts who had been an official with the Freemasons.  and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

They have two children: Thomas E. Greene of Edgewood, Ky., and Lois J. Lewis of Spokane, Wash. They have six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: MERRITT AND MARIAN WOLF

Merritt and Marian Wolf of Newhall celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with siblings in a weeklong cruise to Hawaii.

 for some time. He worked as a letter carrier for the Post Office for 20 years.

The Wolfs are active at the Santa Clarita Senior Center. Merritt is on the advisory board and is a representative for senior legislation in Sacramento. They are also members of the Newhall Presbyterian Church, where Merritt served as a deacon.

The Wolfs had four children: Cheryl Haggard of Alturas, Calif.; Nancy Smith of Acton; Mark Wolf of Boise, Idaho; and Roger Wolf, who is deceased. They have seven grandchildren.
