MARRIED 60 YEARS: RICHARD AND KATHERINE LEE.Byline: - Elizabeth Rodriguez Richard and Katherine Lee of Granada Hills celebrated their 60th anniversary with their family on Oct. 29. The two met at Young Peoples Christian Endeavor Christian Endeavor, association in evangelical Protestant Churches for strengthening spiritual life and promoting Christian activities among its members. The first Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor was started in 1881 by Dr. Francis E. Church in Hawaii. They married soon after on Oct. 29, 1941, in Honolulu. Richard graduated from Hilo High School Hilo High School is a public, co-educational high school of the Hawaii State Department of Education, and serves grades nine through twelve. Established in 1906, its first class graduated in 1909. in Hawaii. He worked as an electrician at Pearl Harbor Navy Yard and was present during the Dec. 7 attack. He was called in that day to provide power to the Naval ships. He said it was a dangerous experience; bombs were falling all around. He later joined the Air National Guard in Bellows Field, Hawaii. After moving to California in 1957, he worked as an aircraft electrician and inspector in Van Nuys. He retired as a quality-control inspector. The Lees had planned to return to Hawaii for their anniversary but had to postpone the trip due to the Sept. 11 attacks. They have four children: Madeline Ward of Orange, Jeffrey Lee Jeffrey Lee (born 1971) is the sole member of the Djok clan and the senior custodian of the Koongarra uranium deposit. The land owned by the clan is surrounded by Kakadu National Park. of Granada Hills, Gregory Lee of Newbury Park and Kathleen Verhey of Frankfort, Ky.
