MARRIED 60 YEARS: FRANK AND MELVA RIOS.

Frank and Melva Rios of Pacoima celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family at home.

They met at a dance and were married in Yuma, Ariz., on Oct. 10, 1943. Melva worked for RCA for 22 years, retiring in 1982.

Frank served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1943-45. He worked at General Motors for 35 years, retiring in 1988.

They have five children: Renee of Valencia, Lydia of Simi Valley, Frank Jr. of Sun Valley, Steven of Pacoima and Patricia of North Hollywood. They also have 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: JACK AND MARILYN MEWBORNE

Jack and Marilyn Mewborne of Lancaster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family on Oct. 11 at the Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.

They met in Madison, S.D., in September 1952 and were married Oct. 16, 1953, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison.

Marilyn graduated from Dakota State College and taught third grade until she and Jack moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Marilyn owned and operated the Children's Corner Preschool in Lancaster for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Assistance League and Valley Oasis Amigas, and was active in the PTA, church committees, choir, Little League and Cub Scouts.

Jack also graduated from Dakota State College and worked as a music instructor at Chester High School in South Dakota. After moving to Los Angeles, Jack taught for the Bellflower School District until 1960, when he began working for Security Pacific National Bank. He graduated from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking in Dallas in 1973 and was made vice president of Security Pacific in 1973, retiring in 1984. Jack has served in many community organizations - including the Kiwanis Club, United Way, Elks Lodge and Contempo Chorale - and has directed several church choirs.

They have two children: Mark of Lancaster and Rick of Oroville, Calif. They also have six grandchildren.
