MARRIED 60 YEARS: FRAN AND FRED JONES.


Fred and Fran Jones of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family on March 9 with dinner, dancing and a memory video.

They met in 1942 at a USO USO: see United Service Organizations.

Fred graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850). , Mo., in 1938. He was commissioned as a naval aviation pilot and spent nine months in the South Pacific flying air-sea rescue missions. He retired from the Navy in 1959 and they moved to California, where Fred worked for Lockheed for 20 years. He also served as an exalted ruler for the Dallas Elks Lodge No. 71.

Fran graduated from Dallas-Forest Avenue High School in 1940. She worked for 10 years as an executive secretary for Chance Vought Aircraft in Dallas. She also worked for 15 years as a fashion model, commentator and coordinator at the California Fashion Mart and Public Relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  office. She is the owner of Fashion Enterprises, a fashion-show production company.

They have two children: Mickey Jones of Simi Valley and Cheryl Nelson of Denver. They also have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: CHARLES AND JOANNE ANDREWS

Charles and Joanne Andrews of Burbank celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family and friends on Feb. 14 with a renewal of their wedding vows at St. Finbar Church in Burbank.

The couple met at the Young People's Club at their church. They were engaged a few months later on Thanksgiving and were married on Valentine's Day 1953.

Joanne graduated from St. Mary Central Catholic High School St. Mary Central Catholic High School is a Catholic, private high school in Sandusky, Ohio. Founded in 1902, it is a part of Sandusky Central Catholic School, administered by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo.

The school is noted for its wrestling program. St.
 in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1946. She moved to California in 1952 and worked in food service for Burbank schools for nine years. She is now a homemaker.
