MARRIED 50 YEARS SKIP AND MARJORY FIERER.

Hillel ``Skip'' and Marjory Fierer of Woodland Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 26, 2000. They were joined by 108 close friends and family members for a formal dinner and reception at the Calabasas Inn.

The Fierers were married March 26, 1950, in Evanston, Ill.

Skip met Marjory when he was visiting friends at a building in which he used to live. Marjory was 11, Skip was 12. They didn't begin dating until they met again at a mutual friend's Sweet Sixteen birthday party in Chicago.

Marjory worked as a material control clerk for five years after she and Skip were married. She took some time off to raise a family, then headed back to work as a reproduction typist in 1971, a job she held for 16 years.

Skip worked for Rockwell (now Boeing) for 30 years. He went on to work for Hughes for 10 years before becoming a construction estimator for six years. He has been a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators for the last 18 years.

The Fierers raised two children: Robin Genchel of Tarzana and Gary Fierer of New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
. They have two grandchildren.

NICHOLAS AND BARBARA DELMESE

Nicholas and Barbara Delmese of Valencia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 1, 2000, with a party at Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. , Nev.

The couple met while in high school, fell in love and after a three-year courtship, married on July 1, 1950, in Rochester, N.Y. They moved to the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.

While raising their children, the Delmeses were involved in Little League, Scouts and Pop Warner Pop Warner refers to

  • Pop Warner Little Scholars, a non-profit organization named after the coach that offers youth American football and cheerleading & dance programs
 Football. Hobbies of the couple include bowling, golfing, camping and fishing. They are also members of the Elks Lodge 1539.

The Delmeses have five children: Ronald Delmese of Valencia, Robert Delmese of Goleta, Nick Delmese of Palmdale, Diana Galias of Long Beach and Larry Delmese of Valencia. They have 11 grandchildren.

DANIEL AND CHARMION JANUS

Daniel and Charmion Janus of Northridge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 27, 2000. Their children rented a limousine for the day and held brunch at the Biltmore Hotel Biltmore Hotel is the name of a hotel chain created by hotel magnate John McEntee Bowman.

The couple met while in a philosophy class at El Camino College El Camino College is a two-year public community college located in the city of Torrance in Los Angeles County, California. It is commonly referred to as "El Co" or "ECC". It consists of 37 buildings spanning an area of roughly 26 acres (105,000 m²).  and married one year later on Aug. 31, 1950. Charmion worked their first year of marriage while Daniel finished his schooling.

Daniel was in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He graduated from Cal State Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  with a master's degree, and went on to teach history at several high schools and at Pierce College. He retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District The Los Angeles Unified School District (the "LAUSD") is the largest (in terms of number of students) public school system in California and the second-largest in the United States. Only the New York City Department of Education has a larger student population.  in 1983.

Charmion is a homemaker, a member of the Northridge Women's Club and of the League of Women Voters League of Women Voters, voluntary public service organization of U.S. citizens. Organized in 1920 in Chicago as an outgrowth of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, it had as its original nucleus the leaders of the latter organization. . She graduated from Cal State Northridge with a bachelors degree and a teaching credential.

The couple have three children - Paul Janus of Moorpark, Carolyn Janus of Northridge and Nancy Wheel of Corona. - and six grandchildren.

They have a fond memory of moving into their new home in Northridge in 1958, in which they still reside.

ROBERT AND DONNA SMITH

Robert and Donna Smith of Reseda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16, 2000, with a dinner attended by family and friends at Black Angus Restaurant in Northridge.

Robert and Donna met in March 1950 while roller skating in their home town of Chadron, Neb.

With a signed note from the bride's mother, the couple eloped to Rapid City, S.D. They married on Sept. 8, 1950, the day after the groom's 21st birthday. The church's groundskeeper and gardener served as their witnesses.

While growing up in Nebraska, Robert set up pins at a bowling alley and shoveled coal on a train. He went on to work for Rocketdyne Inc., and retired after a 30-year career.

Donna enjoyed playing women's basketball while in high school and worked at her local soda fountain. She is retired from Vons Grocery Co. after 32 years of service.

The Smiths raised two children: Robert Jerel Smith, who resides in England, and Sandra Lee Bellissimo of Castaic. They have six granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Their goal for the new millennium is to live in a gated senior center and continue to enjoy good health.
