MARRIED 50 YEARS: TONY AND JOAN GOFFREDO.

Tony and Joan Goffredo of Burbank celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their friends and family on Nov. 9 at the Castaway Restaurant in Burbank.

They met as children and were married on Nov. 7, 1953, in Rochester, N.Y. They moved to California in 1955.

Joan has worked as a teaching assistant for the Burbank Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  for 25 years.

Tony served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Korean War. He worked for AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1989 as communications manager. He currently drives a school bus for the Burbank Unified School District.

They attend St. Finbar Catholic Church, where Tony serves as an usher.

They have three children: Michael of Camarillo, Cathy Mason of Burbank and Dan of San Diego. They also have three grandchildren.

Douglas and Patricia Holden of Thousand Oaks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family Aug. 14-20 at Lake Tahoe.

They met at UCLA, when Douglas was Homecoming Queen Contest chairman and Patricia was a freshman finalist. They were married Aug. 14, 1953, in Minden, Nev.

Patricia graduated from California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , in 1967 and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Not to be confused with Alpha Chi.

Alpha Chi Omega (ΑΧΩ, also known as A-Chi-O or Alpha Chi) is a women's fraternity founded on October 15 1885.

They have seven children: Michael of Boise, Idaho; Steven of Simi Valley; John of Rockford, Ill.; Larry of Palmdale; Victoria Helton of Simi Valley; William of Salt Lake City; and Mary Beth Gustafson, of Spirit Lake, Iowa Spirit Lake is a city in Dickinson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 4,261 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Dickinson CountyGR6. . They also have 17 grandchildren.
