MARRIED 50 YEARS: JOSEPH AND DOROTHY SAMMARTANO.

Joseph and Dorothy Sammartano of Chatsworth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at Cafe Bellissimo in Woodland Hills on Sunday March 28 .

They met while working at Schwein Engineering in Van Nuys and married on Jan. 30, 1954.

Dorothy graduated from San Fernando High School San Fernando High School, located in San Fernando, California, is a secondary school that is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The school colors are black and gold. All girl teams are referred to as Lady Tigers, all boy teams simply as Tigers.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: BEATRICE AND GEORGE CASPARIAN

Beatrice and George Casparian of West Hills celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family and friends on Feb. 15 at Giovanni Ristorante in Woodland Hills.

They met at St. James Armenian Church in 1942 and married at the same church Feb. 12, 1944.

Beatrice graduated from Manual Arts High School Manual Arts High School is a secondary school in Los Angeles, California.

Manual Arts, which spans grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Manual Arts falls into Local District 7 of the LAUSD.

George graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy in Guam for more than a year during World War II. He served as the first student body president of Los Angeles Trade Technical School, graduating in 1946. He worked as a typographer and printer for 41 years, retiring in 1990.

They enjoy traveling the world together, having visited more than 100 countries. They both volunteer at the Ararat Home of Los Angeles.

They have two children: George of Valley Center and John of Woodland Hills. They also have three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MARRIED 50 YEARS: JACK AND VALERIE KLAPPER

Jack and Valerie Klapper of Granada Hills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family reunion in Phoenix in February.

They met in Flushing, N.Y., and were married in Kew Garden Hills, N.Y., on March 14, 1954. They moved to California in 1967.

Valerie is a licensed insurance broker and works part time for the Insurance Skills Center.

Jack worked for Metropolitan Life for 24 years and remained in the insurance industry for another six years. He is a past master of the Home Masonic Lodge No. 721 and is still a member.

They have four children: Sharon Todd of Phoenix, Cathy Riechers of Fond du Lac Fond du Lac (fŏn` də lăk', –jə–), city (1990 pop. 37,757), seat of Fond du Lac co., E central Wis., in a resort region at the south end of Lake Winnebago; inc. 1852. , Wis., Charles Klapper of Anchorage, Alaska, and Steven Klapper of Pasadena. They have one grandchild.

MARRIED 60 YEARS: ALPHONSE AND PEARL BENTIVEGNA

Alphonse and Pearl Bentivegna of Burbank celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family on Feb. 7 at the Castaway Castaway

They met in Galveston, Texas, where Al was a mess sergeant in the Army Air Corp during World War II. They were married Jan. 31, 1944, in Galveston and moved to Fairport, N.Y., after the war. They lived there until 1965, when they moved to Burbank.

Pearl retired from Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, N.Y., in 1965. She worked as a child care provider for 25 years.

Al worked for the American Can Co. in Fairport, N.Y., and later at their Wilmington, Calif., location. He retired in 1968. Since his retirement, he has been active in the Boy Scouts of America Noun 1.
