Royal High nearly let a 21-point lead slip away but held on for a 30-27 win over visiting Camarillo in Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. The Highlanders started quickly, scoring on their first possession of the game on a 16-yard run from Bryant Phipps, who scored two first-half touchdowns and finished the game with 91 yards on 15 carries.

 John Howe pulled the Scorpions to within 21-14 midway through the third quarter on a 6-yard run. Howe finished with 109 yards on 30 carries.

The Highlanders took a 30-17 lead early in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run from fullback Steve Sheehan. Sheehan led the Highlanders' rushing attack with 92 yards on 19 carries.
