MARKET-LEADING MOTOR COACH & TRUCK MANUFACTURER EXPANDS SYMIX SOFTWARE ACROSS 11-SITE OPERATION.
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Symix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYMX) today announced that Consorcio G Grupo Dina (NYSE: DIN, DINL) in Mexico has begun implementation of recently acquired Symix enterprise applications at its subsidiaries' operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Argentina. Motor Coach Industries (MCI), a three-plant division of Grupo Dina based in Winnipeg, Canada, has been a Symix customer since 1994, and has also begun implementation of additional Symix enterprise software. MCI was recently awarded Symix's "Lifetime Achievement Award" at SymixWorld, Symix's user conference.
The sale, which closed in June 1998, included SyteLine enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for an additional 350 concurrent users, as well as SyteLine configuration, advanced planning and scheduling (APS), business intelligence, EDI and Web applications. SyteLine is Symix's ERP software suite for manufacturers of industrial products and related industries.
Grupo Dina and its subsidiaries manufacture medium and heavy trucks, tractor trailers and inter-city and transit coaches at 11 manufacturing sites in North and South America. Grupo Dina has approximately 70 percent of the motor coach and bus market in Mexico, and over 50 percent of the U.S. market through its subsidiaries.
