MARKAIR CREATES DENVER HUB, ADDS NEW ROUTES FOR LOS ANGELES, SAN FRANCISCO, WASHINGTON D.C., DALLAS/FT. WORTH

DENVER, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- MarkAir, one of the fastest-growing low-fare airlines in the United States, announced today that it has created a major air passenger hub in Denver with new flights to and from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Dallas-Ft. Worth. The expanded operation will begin Sept. 7, and combine with MarkAir's existing service through Denver to and from Seattle, Anchorage, Chicago and New York.
"The expanded routes link virtually all major West Coast cities with convenient low-fare flights to the East Coast, West and Midwest," said MarkAir President Mike Bergt. The airline also operates a major hub in Seattle with flights to Anchorage, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas as well as to Denver, Chicago and New York.
"Demand for our low-cost, coast-to-coast service has been exceptional, and we are delighted to offer these travel values to additional passengers," Bergt said. He noted that MarkAir is able to provide domestic service at highly competitive rates because its operating costs are much lower than larger carriers.
To further enhance its value to passengers, the airline recently expanded coach-class seating and introduced a new pricing system known as Flex Fares. Flex Fares are designed for those whose schedules demand flexibility, and passengers receive significant savings for one way, non-refundable tickets. The new program covers every level of purchase, including walk-up purchases, with savings of up to 70 percent compared with previous rates.
MarkAir has rapidly increased its route system over the past year to fill the growing demand for economical air services throughout the U.S. MarkAir also offers a combined service with Direct Air at Chicago's Midway Airport, linking Chicago and 13 smaller Midwestern cities with low-fare service to either coast. In addition, plans are now under way to add flights from Denver to Atlanta in October, connecting the MarkAir system with the Southeast.
Headquartered in Anchorage, MarkAir is Alaska's largest airline, serving more than 140 communities throughout the state.
