MARC R. VON WYSS ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT PLANS

 DUNDEE, Mich., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Marc R. von Wyss, president and chief executive officer of Holnam Inc. (NYSE: HLN), advised the company's board of directors at its meeting on March 10 that he will retire March 1, 1994. Mr. von Wyss served as president of Dundee Cement Company for 18 years prior to becoming Holnam's chief executive in 1990.
 "With the reorganization of Holnam essentially complete, our strategic direction clarified and financial recovery underway, I believe the time is right to begin the transition process," Mr. von Wyss said.
 In a related development, the Holnam board of directors elected Mr. Paul A. Yhouse to the position of executive vice president. Mr. Yhouse, currently senior vice president and chief financial officer, joined the company in 1991 and was formerly an audit partner with Arthur Andersen & Co.
 Holnam Inc. is a major producer and supplier of cement and related building materials in North America with consolidated annual sales close to $1 billion. It is a subsidiary of Holderbank Financiere Glaris Ltd. of Switzerland, and its shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
