Susan May, president of Horizon Land Services, LLC, has reported the appointment of Victoria Mericle as an account representative focusing on commercial and residential title services.

Prior to joining Horizon, Mericle was an analyst at The Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group. She has also served as financial manager for Marina Maher Communications, Inc., a public relations firm in New York City. She is currently working towards her M.S. in real estate investment at New York University.

Brooks Sandeman Clark has joined the real estate group in Wolf, Block, Schorr & Solis Cohen LLP's New York office as an associate. Clark's practice will focus on a broad range of commercial and corporate real estate transactions, sales and acquisitions, real estate finance and commercial leasing. Clark was formerly an associate at Brown, Raysman, Millstein, Felder, Steiner LLP in New York.

John M. Marks has been promoted to vice president at Colliers ABR, Inc. He was the former manager of financial services.

In his new post, Marks will be responsible for the firm's corporate financial reporting and administration. He will also continue his involvement with the creation and implementation of real estate financial models, valuations, consulting studies and new business development. Some of the clients with whom Marks has worked with include Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, TIAA and AEW Capital Management.

Before joining Colliers, Marks worked at Capital Properties Associates where he assisted the company in the acquisition of commercial office and residential properties. Marks earned his MBA from Columbia Business School.

Jonathan L. Kempner was recently named chief operating officer of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.

Kempner currently serves as president of the National Multi Housing Council, a Washington, D.C.-based association, representing the apartment industry. Previously, he served as vice president and general counsel to the Oxford Development Corporation in Bethesda, and as an assistant director and general counsel to the Pennsylvania Development Corporation In Washington, D.C.

Kempner is a graduate of the Stanford Law School. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Housing Conference, the Urban Land Institute, and the American Bar Association. He also sits on the editorial boards of a dozen real estate periodicals.

Julien J. Studley, Inc. has named Daniel O. Horowitz to senior managing director of the firm's midtown office. Horowitz, who joined Studley in 1990 as a tenant representation specialist, has been consistently recognized as a top-producing broker in the company. He applies his expertise in lease negotiation, space acquisition and disposition to lead a team that consists of two mid-level brokers and two financial analysts.

Horowitz has represented corporate tenants, including Fortune 500 companies, law firms, financial service companies, foreign governments and not-for-profit organizations. Among his clients are Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Banque Nationale De Paris, Cisco Systems, Novo Media Group, Mikimoto, Microsoft Corporation, and The Freedom Forum.

Horowitz is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and The Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association, and has authored numerous articles on real estate issues for national and regional publications. He received a B.A. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania, and currently serves on the board of governors of the PENN Club.

The insurance agency Titleserv Inc. has expanded its Long Island sales team with the addition of three title insurance specialists. They are are senior account manager Dan Kenny and account managers Alison M. Rosenfeld and Alyssa J. Galluzzi.

Prior to joining Titleserv, Kenny held senior loan officer positions at Roslyn National Mortgage, Arbor National Mortgage, and Bank of America. He brings to Titleserv expertise attained from 12 years of providing mortgages for high-end clients in the Huntington area.

Rosenfeld also brings 12 years of industry experience to Titleserv. She has held positions at Arbor National Mortgage, European American Bank, and Long Island Savings Bank.

Galluzzi held a management position with Madison Square Garden before joining Settlement Corp., Titleserv's sister company, in 1996. She brings nearly five years of title industry experience to her new position.

Rose Shallo has recently joined the White Plains office of Houlihan/Lawrence as an associate broker. Shallo has been involved in real estate for 15 years and has been a member of the Multi Million Dollar Club.

Edward J. Weiss has been named an executive vice president at Cushman & Wakefield.

Weiss, the firm's number one broker for the past two years and a member of the Cushman & Wakefield board of directors, joined the firm in 1976. His clients include the Archdiocese of New York, Dime Savings Bank, and Forbes. He leads a team that represents Verizon's real estate interests on the East Coast and handles many of MC1's interests in the New York metropolitan area. His team also represents Genuity, the internet infrastructure company recently spun off from GTE.

Weiss received his B.A. from SUNY Stony Brook, his M.B.A. from Long Island University, and his diploma in real estate analysis and appraisal from New York University. A former naval flight officer, Weiss is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and the Board of Benefactors for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. He is active in his community, having served as a trustee for the Village of Shoreham and chairman of the Village's Construction Management Committee.

Stratford Business Corporation, owner of the Nevele Grande Resort & County Club in Ellenville, NY, has announced the promotion of Angela English as general manager of the 682-guest rooms hotel. English will be based at the Nevele Grand Resort & Country Club and will report directly to ownership. As general manager, English will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel.

English has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. She joined Nevele Grande Resort & Country Club in 1999 as room division manager.

Prior to joining Nevele Grande Resort & Country Club, English also held management positions at The Hudson Valley Resort & Spa in Kerhonkson, NY and The Concord Resort Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, NY.

Thomas W. Schettino, president of City & Suburban Federal Savings Bank, announced the appointment of Kathleen Romagnano as vice president and branch coordinator.

Romagnano will report to Richard Karpowich, senior vice president and director of operations and retail banking. Her primary responsibility will be to maximize the profitability of the branch network while maintaining customer relationships Romagnano comes to City & Suburban from Astoria Federal Savings Bank, where she was regional manager, responsible for the sales and operational performance of 13 branch offices. Prior to that she was vice president and distribution network manager of Dime Savings Bank of New York, responsible for management of the bank's ATM program, which contains more than 150 machines.

Romagnano graduated from Bernard Baruch College, where she was a member of the Dean's Honor Society. She has a B.B.A. in marketing/advertising.

Butler Rogers Baskett announced that Robert E. Belio, Joseph F. Bille, Steve Chrostowski, Peter Elliott, Camil Malouf, and Christopher M. McCagg have been named associates of the firm. In addition, Bruce D. Eisenberg has recently joined the firm as an associate.

Matthew Baclini has joined the staff of real estate firm D.G. Hart Associates, Inc. as a sales associate, announced Joseph G. Genovesi, D.G. Hart's president.

Bachini will join the firm following graduation from Boston University's School of Management with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Baclini's objectives include expanding D.G. Hart's client base, servicing current relationships and collaborating with Genovesi on several existing accounts.

As a financial consultant intern with Salomon Smith Barney in Boston and an intern for D.G. Hart, Baclini has experience in financial and real estate sectors. During his student tenure with D.G. Hart, he was responsible for collecting market information and upgrading a company-wide database through search and direct contact with business owners and managers.

Byrnam Wood LLC, a tenant representation firm, announced the appointment of Graham Alton to the post of associate director. Graham brings with him 10 years of professional experience in the telecommunications business. Graham's background as a senior account executive has given Byrnam Wood the technical expertise that is both timely and relevant to its lease transactions.

Graham is a graduate of Westchester University. He currently resides in Manhattan.
