Cushman & Wakefield president and chief executive officer Arthur J. Mirante II was the Lincoln Center Real Estate and Construction Council 2001 Gala honoree on May 17.

In February, the American Jewish Committee presented Mirante with the National Human Relations Award for his many years of service. Through this award, the AJC seeks to recognize individuals who have attained a leadership role in their industry and who have contributed to the community through civic and philanthropic endeavors. Last year, Mirante received the New York Area Quarterback Award from The United Way of New York, the Heartshare All-Star Millennium Award from the foster care agency, and was the honoree at the annual dinner of Kushner Hebrew Academy.

Mirante is on the board of the United Way of New York City, the Alvin Ailey Dance Company, the Nassau County Fine Arts Museum, and the Boy Scouts of America. He has been honored by New York organizations such as Just One Break, Futures in Education Foundation, New York Boys Choir, The Israel Cancer Research Fund, and the Realty Foundation of New York, Inc.

CB Richard Ellis announced the appointment of Thomas Garden as senior vice president of the New York City offices.

He brings over twenty years of real estate experience in landlord representation, tenant representation and office and industrial development. In his new position, Garden will be responsible for consulting and brokerage services to corporate clients throughout the country. Garden was formerly managing director with Kennedy-Wilson Properties. He also was vice president of Jones Lang LaSalle where he formed and directed the firm's national disposition group. Prior, Garden served as a partner with the Boston office of The Linpro Company, which is now known as LCOR.

Garden earned a bachelor of arts degree from Dartmouth College and is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York. He currently resides in North Caldwell, N.J.

Halstead Property Company has announced the opening of a new management division to be called Halstead Management, LLC which will be directed by Paul R. Gottsegen.

Prior to joining Halstead Gottsegen, who has 24 years of experience in the industry, was managing director at Insignia Residential Group where he supervised the management of many of Insignia's most visible and high-profile cooperative apartment accounts, including The San Remo and 1040 Fifth Avenue. Gottesegen has been a longtime leader in the residential real estate industry. He was the founder and president of Soren Management, Inc. He also served as vice president of Douglas Elliman-Gibbons & Ives where he was responsible for the management of over 75 cooperatives in Manhattan.

Gottesegen attended Wesleyan University, Hunter College and The Julliard School. He is a certified property manager, New York State licensed broker, member of the Real Estate Board of New York and an honorary member of the New York Buildings Managers Association.

William S. Frank and Henry S. Kobrin joined the Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc. as directors of corporate services. The duo will take on account and assignment management responsibilities for the company's national and global clients.

Frank, a 30-year veteran of the industrial and commercial real estate industries, will serve as a portfolio manger to Newmark's corporate clients. Prior to joining Newmark, he was a senior real estate manager with Sony Corporation of America, ITT Corp. and several other major corporations.

Frank is a graduate of CW Post College and Brooklyn Law School. He has also completed extensive course work at the NYU Real Estate Institute. He is a member of the Bar in New York and Florida and holds a New York real estate broker's license. Frank is a member of IDRC, having served as Chairman of the New York Chapter, Treasurer for the IDRC 2000 NYC Convention Committee and a member of the IDRC International World Congress Committee.

Kobrin, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, joined Newmark & Company in January to assist with the management of real estate portfolios for corporate clients requiring services to supplement those provided by their in-house real estate departments. Prior to joining Newmark, Kobrin held the position of vice president of real estate for Reliance Group Holdings, Inc.

Kobrin holds a B.A. in political science. Additionally, he has completed several advanced real estate courses at New York University. Kobrin is a longstanding member of the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives.

Plymouth Partners, Ltd. named Mark Thompson as managing director and hired Nicole La Branche as director, the company announced.

Prior to joining Plymouth, Thompson served four years with Epic Edge, an international technology consulting firm. Earlier, Thompson developed projects in Eastern Europe and the former USSR for MPM, Ltd. Thompson is a graduate of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where he received an M.S. in city and regional planning. He also earned a B.S. in public affairs/urban planning from the University of Southern California.

Before joining Plymouth, La Branche served as director of the global affiliate program for SocialEvents.com, a web-site that enabled users to send both commercial and philanthropic gifts to individuals living abroad. La Branche earned a B.A. in art history from the University of Vermont.

Michael Blumenfeld has joined Kushner Companies as director of development.

With 31 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, planning and development, Blumenfeld is responsible for supervising property development for the company. A registered architect, Blumenfeld is instrumental in handling architectural and planning reviews for the firm's proposed and ongoing projects. Prior to joining Kushner, Blumenfeld was vice president for land acquisitions and development at Robertson Douglas Group. His past experience also includes serving as director of Urban Park Planning for the New York City Department of Parks.

Blumenfeld, of West Windsor, N.J., is currently an adjunct professor of architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He earned a bachelor's degree in architecture at Miami University and completed his master's degree in landscape architecture at the State University of New York in Syracuse. He has also completed coursework at the New York University Real Estate Institute.

Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. has promoted Ted J. Barnholdt to the position of managing director of strategic agency services.

Since joining the company's Midtown Manhattan office in early 1999, Barnholdt has served as an account manager of national portfolios for multiple property owners, with clients ranging from major U.S. institutions to offshore high-net-worth individuals. During his 19-year career in real estate, Barnholdt has experienced diverse perspectives, as a lawyer, developer, landlord, tenant, investor, divestor, and service provider. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, he handled corporate investment real estate for Citigroup, New York Life, and JCPenney.

Barnholdt is a licensed real estate broker in New York State and a member of the American Bar Association. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law and an alumni of Duke University.

O'Dea, Lynch, Abbattlsta Consulting Engineers announced the addition of Lyle R. Shute as a senior mechanical engineer in its New York office.

A resident of Chester, N.Y., Shute holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in business from Iona College. Prior to joining the firm, Shute worked as a senior engineer for McGoey, Hauser & Edsall Consulting Engineers. He is a registered professional engineer in both New York and Pennsylvania.

Kenneth R. Enos has been promoted to senior director at Sutton & Edwards/TCN Worldwide.Enos formerly served as director of the company's investment division.

He joined the firm in 1995 and has been responsible for approximately $150 million in transactions for such clients as Bank Leumi USA, General Electric Capital Corporation, and Roslyn Savings Bank. Prior to joining Sutton & Edwards, he served as vice president with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, associate broker with Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., and vice president and assistant director with Dime Savings Bank.

Enos graduated magna cum laude from Boston College.

Cushman & Wakefield announced that Dennis R. Irvin has joined Cushman & Wakefield as an executive director. He will be working on major advisory/transaction assignments with a team of brokerage professionals headed by vice chairman August DiRenzo.

Prior to joining the company, Irvin was a senior member of J.P. Morgan/Chase Securities, Inc.'s real estate investment banking group in New York. Irvin has experience in all aspects of real estate, including a background in corporate finance, real estate investment banking, and corporate real estate advisory services.

During his career, Irvin has-been involved in a broad range of transactions that included asset sales, such as the $3.25 billion privatization of the World Trade Center for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.

Irvin lives in Short Hills, N.J., with his wife and three children.
