In a move that strengthens and expands its position in the New England marketplace, Insignia/ESG, Inc. has promoted Joseph A. Cabrera (photo) to president of the New England Region. He will be based in the firm's Stamford, CT office, reporting to Insignia/ESG's president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , Stephen B. Siegel.

In his new position, Cabrera will direct new business development in Westchester and Fairfield, and implement a strategic plan to expand Insignia/ESG's business throughout New England. Cabrera will also continue to service New York-based and national clients and maintain an office at Insignia/ESG's 200 Park Avenue headquarters.

Michael Klein, executive director of Insignia/ESG's Westchester/Fairfield office, will continue to oversee the day-to-day brokerage operations in those markets.

Cabrera is well prepared for his new post. Previously, he was Northeast Regional president of The Galbreath Company. In that position, which he held prior to joining Insignia/ESG in 1997, Cabrera consistently distinguished himself as one of Galbreath's most outstanding performers. He was the recipient of the company's Broker of the Year award and earned top producer honors in his final year at Galbreath.

Over the span of his 12-year real estate career, Cabrera has completed over 10 million square feet of transactions in more than 100 cities. Some of his most notable transactions in the Westchester/Connecticut region include Harcourt Brace Jovanich, Inc.'s 227,000 square-foot sublease in Valhalla, NY; Citicorp North America, Inc.'s 100,000 square feet at 100 First Stamford Place and 136,000 square feet at Stamford Towers in Stamford; and Reuters' 40,000 square feet at One and Two Stamford Plaza in Stamford.

Since joining Insignia/ESG as an executive director, Cabrera has also concluded a number of notable transactions in New York, including Draft Worldwide's recent 102,000 square-foot lease at 919 Third Avenue. In conjunction with Cushman & Wakefield's Bruce Mosler and Tishman Realty's Joe Simone, Cabrera also represented Reuters in its North American headquarters transaction at 3 Times Square. This lease accounts for the majority of the 853,000 square-foot building.

Berkey has more than 14 years of experience in commercial real estate, primarily representing tenants in the procurement of new facilities and the disposition of lease liabilities. During his tenure with Insignia/ESG, which began in 1991, Berkey has represented tenants including the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International, News Corporation and HarperCollins Publishers. His current assignments include the leasing agencies for both 680 Fifth Avenue and 1633 Broadway.

Bradford Cole (photo) of Scotch Plains, NJ, has been named assistant director of construction for Levin Management Corporation. Based in North Plainfield, the firm's portfolio includes 61 projects totaling nearly 7.5 million square feet. In his new position, Cole will assist in supervising the activities of Levin Management Corporation's in-house construction department, which handles all aspects of retail construction; construction management (from planning and implementing new projects to renovations, tenant fit-outs and improvements), to on-going renovations and upgrades of shopping centers.

Cole has 10 years of experience in the construction industry and has served in numerous capacities. Most recently, he worked as senior construction manager and construction project manager for Bed Bath Beyond in Springfield, NJ; construction project manager for Ann Taylor in New York, as well as Discovery Zone L.P., in Morristown, NJ; and as estimator/construction coordinator for Phillips-Van Heusen in Bridgewater, NJ. Cole earned a bachelor's degree in business administration/marketing from Rider University.

The Advance Group, a Bedminster, NJ-based commercial real estate development organization, has appointed David J. Fisher (photo) as vice president. In his new capacity, Fisher will be responsible for managing and building The Advance Group's new suburban Washington D.C. hub.

Jonathan B. Schultz, president of The Schultz Brokerage Services Group, has announced the appointment of Todd J. Lowe (photo) as a senior broker associate. Lowe, a resident of Matawan, NJ, has over 12 years' experience in the commercial real estate industry. Most recently, Lowe was a vice president of Meridian Realty Services. At The Schultz Organization, Lowe will be involved in the sales and leasing of commercial real estate, with a concentration in Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

David A. Lewis Jr. (photo) has joined the New York office of Mutual of New York (MONY MONY Mutual of New York (Insurance - Syracuse, NY) ) Real Estate Investment Management as real estate vice president. According to Debra Kloper, regional vice president of MONY Real Estate, Lewis will oversee asset management of the firm's 369,000 square-foot Northeast real estate portfolio.

Lewis has more than 10 years of real estate experience and most recently served as director of Asset Property Management for Myers Northeast. In that position, Lewis oversaw a portfolio of 46 assets. Previously, Lewis was a Commercial Real Estate Lending Officer for Fleet Bank, where he performed asset management functions for an existing loan portfolio.
