Levy's career spans more than two decades and includes experience in residential and financial management of luxury cooperatives, condominiums, rental properties, subsidized properties, office buildings, and shopping centers; capital improvement management; sales, brokerage, and lease negotiation; sponsor relations; personnel training and management; and new business development.
A founding member of the Association of Cooperative and Condominium Management, Levy currently serves as vice chairman of the residential management council of the Real Estate Board of New York and is a member of the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Levy received the REBNY Residential Management Executive of the Year Award on March 27.
Plymouth Partners, Ltd. announced the hiring of Mark Thompson and Nicole La Branche.
Thompson, who joined the firm as managing director, formerly served as director with Epic Edge and the Growth Strategy Group. A graduate of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and the University of Southern California, Thompson developed projects in Eastern Europe.
La Branche, who joined the firm as director, formerly served as director of the affiliate program for SocialEvents.com. A graduate of the University of Vermont, she was formerly head of Christie's Images, Inc.
Howard Rapaport, whose career in the electrical industry spans 33 years, has joined Forest Electric Corp. as vice president of business development/special projects.
In this role he will be responsible for generating new business while overseeing certain large and technically complicated projects taken on by Forest Electric. Rapaport will report to Salvatore Caputo, chief operating officer.
Prior to joining the company, Rapaport was employed for 23 years by Cosentini Associates, where he was one of two vice presidents in charge of the company's electrical department. He started his career in the electrical industry in 1968 as an electrical designer with Syska & Hennessy.
Geoffrey J. Weir has joined Cushman & Wakefield's retail brokerage team. After establishing a business for the company during his three-year run with strategic agency services as senior managing director, Weir returns to his former position as a broker to help bolster the firm's efforts in the fast-growing national retail arena.
Weir has more than 15 years of real estate experience including retail brokerage, asset management, distressed asset repositioning, leasing, acquisition, disposition and management oversight. Prior to joining the company, Weir was senior vice president with Price Enterprises, Inc. overseeing real estate operations and strategic planning for a $400 million unleveraged national real estate portfolio.
Weir graduated from St. John's University with a B.S. in accounting and from the New York University Real Estate Institute, diploma program-property valuations. He is a member of The Real Estate Board of New York, Urban Land Institute, Building Owners and Managers Association and the International Association of Shopping Centers.
The Schultz Organization/TCN Worldwide hired Kenneth J. Nilsen as vice president of property management. Nilsen will be responsible for managing the company's management services division.
Prior to joining the company, Nilsen was senior district manager at GVA Williams and vice president and senior real estate manager at CB Richard Ellis, where he was responsible for overseeing three million square feet of office, industrial, and warehouse space. Nilsen's experience includes the overseeing of budgeting, bid coordination, and capital improvements for Metropolitan Corporate Plaza.
Nilsen is a licensed New Jersey real estate salesperson and RPA candidate. In 1997, he was recognized as the eastern region property manager of the year in by CB Richard Ellis.
The Zucker Organization announced that its chairman Donald Zucker received the Pillars of the Industry Award for Builder of the Year presented by the multifamily division of the National Association of Home Builders.
The award was presented at the 10th anniversary gala of the Pillars of the Industry Awards, held in conjunction with NARB's first annual multifamily trends conference. The Pillars of the Industry award recognizes excellence in design, construction, management, marketing, and finance. The Builder of Year award, which is sponsored by Freddie Mac, honors superior career achievement by a multifamily builder.
Zucker established The Zucker Organization in 1961. Among residential de velopments completed by The Zucker the Rivergate, the Future, and the West River House.
Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc. has named Jonathan B. Tager as a sales and leasing associate, announced John D. Goodkind, executive managing director of the company's Westchester/ Connecticut office.
Tager will serve as a sales and leasing associate responsible for the Connecticut office leasing market segment. Prior to joining Newmark's Connecticut operations, Tager served as a commercial real estate financial analyst in the firm's headquarters in New York City. In that capacity, he performed financial assessments pertaining to lease and sales transactions and building valuations. He also helped create and institute the firm's commission protocol program.
Before that, he served as a research analyst for a variety of hedge funds including Circle T Partners, L.P. in New York City, Palomar Capital Management in Carlsbad, Calif., and Hovde Financial, Inc in Washington D.C., where he participated in all stages of the investment process.
Tager earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, with a concentration in finance and international business, from The George Washington University.
Cushman & Wakefield announced the promotion of James Estus to senior director of the industrial/technology group at the firm's Chicago office.
Estus joined Cushman & Wakefield in June 1989, after working for Rubloff Inc. for five years as assistant vice president of the industrial properties group. During his 15-year career, Estus has completed more than 300 transactions valued at more than $400 million. Estus has served clients such as B.F. Goodrich, Chicago Tribune, Hamilton Avnet Electronics, Morgan Realty Partners, Nordstrom Department Stores, and The RREEF Funds.
He holds a B.A. in business administration and is involved with the Chicago Board of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, and the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers.
Houlihan/Lawrence announced Colleen M. Gallagher has recently been elected a member of the Real Estate CyberSpace Society.
Election to the society provides members with the latest evaluations of Real Estate Cyber Space strategies, tactics, tools sites, and services of value to real estate professionals. The society is headquartered in Boston and includes members from all over United States and several other countries.
In addition, Gallagher has completed the e-PRO Internet Professional Certification Program endorsed by the National Association of Realtors. The e-PRO certification course is a new comprehensive program that certifies real estate agents as internet professionals.
An associate broker in the Armonk office, Gallagher has worked with Houlihan/Lawrence since 1994. She is a member of the Real Estate Buyers' Agent Council of the National Association of Realtors and a member of the Graduate Realtors Institute. Prior to joining the company, Gallagher was a registered nurse at White Plains Hospital Center.
Fox & Fowle Architects announced that Joseph Lengeling has joined the firm as a senior associate.
Cushman & Wakefield Inc. has named Michael Gordon Corporate Services Professional of the Year.
Gordon, account director at the firm's Connecticut office, is responsible for the day-to-day account management for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Metromedia Fiber Network Services. His responsibilities include transaction management and oversight of the companies' portfolios, which total more than eight million square feet of Class A office space throughout the United States.
He is also responsible for coordinating the strategic planning process, developing reporting systems to track transactions in progress, and extensive lease negotiations.
Gordon is a certified public accountant, with years of experience in providing accounting and consulting services to small- and mid-sized corporations, including tax, audit, and financial management support.
A resident of Madison, Conn., he received a B.A. in accounting and finance from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
