Butler Rogers Baskett announced that Karen Anne Boyd, AIA, has joined the firm as an associate.

Boyd is an expert in planning, programming, and design of educational institutions. During her 17-year career, she has developed comprehensive plans for some 25 institutions, specializing in work with colleges and universities. Her clients have included Dickinson College, New School University, and SUNY/Stony Brook. Prior to joining Butler Rogers Baskett, she was director of campus space planning and management at Gettysburg College.

Boyd holds a B.A. from Smith College and an M.A. in architecture from the University of Virginia. Her published articles and conference presentations have dealt with such topics as the team-building process, new technology, and the future of planning for community colleges.

Sholom & Zuckerbrot Realty LLC has named Douglas Weinstein a member of its retail leasing team.

Previously, Weinstein served as a leasing agent for Newmark New Spectrum in New York City and Long Island. His clients have included Men's Wearhouse, Rockaway Bedding, and Fabco Shoes.

Weinstein is a graduate of George Washington University. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He lives in Woodbury, N.Y.

GVA Williams of New Jersey has announced the appointment of John J. Johnson as managing director of ownership services. In this capacity, Johnson will perform advisory services on commercial real estate investments and oversee all leasing assignments on behalf of property owners. He will be based in the company's Parsippany office.

Johnson has 15 years of experience in leasing, management, marketing, and financing of office, warehouse, and investment properties. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for representing corporations such as Xerox, Chase Manhattan, and New York Life. Previously, Johnson was senior vice president of Alexander Summer, LLC, where he was responsible for the leasing, property management, and construction management of more than 3 million SF of space.

Johnson is a graduate of Pace University, and has received a diploma in real estate and investment analysis from New York University. He is a licensed real estate broker in New Jersey and New York, a trustee of the Boy Scouts of America Bergen Council, president of the board of trustees for the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, and a member of IOREBA, BOMA, and NAIOP.

David R. Zurheide has joined Continental Properties as vice president of land acquisition. Zurheide will be responsible for the identification and acquisition of a variety of development sites and the pursuit of government approvals.

Prior to joining Continental Properties, Zurheide served in a similar capacity with The Kalian Companies.

A resident of Middletown, Zurheide holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business and a B.B.A. from Georgian Court College.

The REALM announced that John W. Campbell, president of Brookfield Ventures Ltd., has joined the company's board of directors.

Campbell helped establish Brookfield's Eastern Canadian presence and subsequently acted as president of the Canadian management company, Brookfield Management Services. He led the company's initiative for premium tenant services in the portfolio.

Campbell is on the board of directors of Brookfield LePage Johnson Controls, Semprio, Regus Canada, the Office Technology Consortium, and the Toronto Board of Trade.

Binswanger/Klatskin announced the appointment of Martin Kreiman as vice president.

Kreiman specializes in the industrial, hotel, and investment markets. Prior to joining Binswanger/Klatskin, he served as senior vice president of Weichert Commercial. His clients include Budget Rent A Car, Sears, and Holiday Inn.

Kreiman is a graduate of Queens College. He resides in Basking Ridge, N.J.

Castle Senior Living is pleased to announce that Susan Sugarman has been promoted to director of community outreach at the organization's 80th Street Residence and Paul Rosen has been promoted to director of programming. The 80th Street Residence is a free-standing facility dedicated to memory impairing diseases.

In her new position, Sugarman's responsibilities include the development of special events dedicated to aging and other related topics and the organization of presentations to the medical and geriatric community. Prior to joining Castle Senior Living, Sugarman served as a social worker and a coordinator of Alzheimer's programs.

In his new position as director of programming, Rosen schedules group and individual activities, such as musical concerts and day trips. He is also developing a new pet-therapy program.

Cushman & Wakefield announced the appointment of Stuart R. Essery as executive managing director of U.S. operations.

Based in Cushman & Wakefield's Los Angeles office, Essery will be responsible for the establishment of effective business and management tools for U.S. operations. He will focus on creating systems that accurately evaluate branch performance and productivity, as well as broker performance. In addition, he will lead Cushman & Wakefield's integration team following the recent merger of Cushman & Wakefield and Cushman Realty Corporation. Essery was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer of Cushman Realty.

Essery received a B.A. in history and political science from the University of Winnipeg, and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Western Ontario. For several years he was a member of the World Council of YMCAs in Geneva, Switzerland.

Kevin Moran has been appointed general manager of the soon-to-be-opened The Inn at Fox Hollow hotel in Woodbury, N.Y. He will oversee daily operations, sales, marketing, and conference services.

Prior to joining The Inn at Fox Hollow, Moran served as general manager of the Diplomat Resort Country Club and Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

Moran received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1967 and is a certified hotel administrator. He has served on the board of directors of the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, on the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, and on the advisory board for Huntington High School. Moran resides in Long Island with his wife and three children.

The Liberty Science Center in Jersey City has re-elected Tom Stanton to its board of trustees for a three-year term.

Stanton joined the board in 1997 and currently serves on the capital project committee for the Center's $90 million expansion program. He is a managing principal of The Staubach Company's New Jersey corporate services division. He specializes in tenant representation for corporations such as Lockheed Martin, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, and Mitsubishi International.

Stanton is a cum laude graduate of Ithaca College. He serves on the board of directors of The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Services in Washington, D.C. and the board of trustees of the Liberty Healthcare System Foundation in Hudson county, N.J.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP announced that H. Guy Leibler has joined the firm as president. In this position, Leibler is responsible for the implementation of the firm's strategic initiatives and for overseeing all aspects of its business operations. He will coordinate finance, information technology, and legal and human resources functions in all of SOM's offices.

Guy has a diverse background in the real estate, entertainment, and health care industries. Since April 1997, he has been chairman of the board of directors of the White Plains Hospital Center in White Plains, N.Y.; in that role, he was responsible for strategic planning, policy, and government of the institution. Prior to that, he was president of a division of Sony Corporation of America in New York and president and CEO of Schulman Realty Group in White Plains.

Leibler earned his M.B.A. from Columbia University and his B.A., with a major in political science, from American University in Washington, D.C. He lives in Greenwich, Conn. with his wife and daughter.

Gale & Wentworth Management Services Division announced the following promotions and hires:

* Deborah B. Sparks has been promoted to director of business operations. She will be responsible for assisting the management services division president in all aspects of business operations.

Deborah Sparks joined Gale & Wentworth in 1997 as a regional manager and has more than 19 years of experience in the service business.

She received her B.S. from Rutgers University, has a real property administration designation, and is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association.

* David Bury, RPA, has been promoted to managing director of the UK European operations. He will oversee clients, including British Airways and British Bankers Association.

Previously, Bury served as a property manager with responsibility for a 1 million SF portfolio of commercial office space throughout New Jersey.

Bury received a degree in mechanical engineering from Blackpool University in the UK and attended Northeastern University in Boston. He is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association.

* Frederick Knapp has been promoted to director of business development.

Knapp has 15 years of real estate and management experience, with an emphasis on marketing, client interaction, new venture, and creative business development. As the senior manager of Park Avenue, Knapp headed the team that won the International TOBY award for the Best Managed Suburban Office Campus. He also won the New Jersey award in the Historical Building category.

Leandro Zucchi, RPA, FMA, has joined Gale & Wentworth's management services division as managing director, with responsibility for Park Avenue at Morris county.

Zucchi has 13 years of experience in the real estate industry. He has an extensive background in engineering and maintenance management, having served as the assistant general manager of the World Trade Center's building services management division.

An alumnus of Manhattan College in the Bronx, Zucchi earned a B.A. in mechanical engineering. He received his RPA and FMA designations through BOMI.

Insignia/ESG announced the appointment of Stacey Fabrikant as a managing director. Fabrikant will be responsible for business development and tenant representation.

Previously, Fabrikant worked at Kipp/ Stawski, where she was responsible for the leasing and management of regional properties comprising 2 million SF of office and retail space.

Fabrikant received a J.D. from Boston University Law School and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
