Lawrence Properties announced that Michelle Ritchie has been recently appointed as the firm's director of financial services. In her new position, Ritchie will be responsible for the financial well-being of more than 75 buildings in the company's portfolio.

Prior to joining Lawrence, Ritchie served as vice president and managing director of the residential management division at Insignia Financial Services. Before that, she worked at the Kreisel Company, where she was responsible for overseeing' the firm's accounting operations. Ritchie is in expert in debt restructuring, long-term financing, and short-term loans.

David Sherman has been promoted to executive managing director of Insignia/ESG's New Jersey office in Saddle Brook, announced executive director Patrick Murphy.

In 2000, Sherman was responsible for nearly 750,000 SF of office leasing activity on behalf of both tenants and owners, including the 313,000-SF AboveNet Communications lease in Jersey City, NJ; the 56,000 SF headquarters lease for the BLP Group Companies in Wayne, NJ; and the 38,500-SF lease for Paradigm Direct in Fort Lee, NJ.

Sherman joined Insignia/ESG as a managing director following the company's opening of its New Jersey office in 1987. He was promoted to senior managing director in January 1995.

In addition, Sherman has been responsible for investment sales and saleleaseback transactions in excess of $200 million, including the representation of Hartz Mountain Industries, Hilton Hotels and the Government of Singapore. He is currently representing over two million SF of Class A leasing assignments.

Prior to joining the company, Sherman was a vice president at Douglas Elliman Knight Frank, Inc. Licensed in both New York and New Jersey, Sherman is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and holds a B.A. degree in real estate and communications from SUNY.

Tara Hogan has joined The Marketing Directors, Inc. as a market analyst, announced president Adrienne Albert.

In her new position, Hogan is responsible for tracking new residential construction in the New York metro area, including pricing information. Before joining the firm, Hogan worked at Massachusetts-based World Boston, a company that organizes professional itineraries and social activities for foreign dignitaries. She started as a program officer, and later advanced to director of marketing.

Hogan earned her M.B.A. in global financial analysis and her B.A. in international culture and economy from Bentley College in Massachusetts. She has also studied at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, and Eurocentre in Madrid, Spain.

Houlihan/Lawrence hired Nancy M. Shire to its Scarsdale office as a licensed real estate salesperson. Prior to joining the company, Shire worked as a management and leasing agent for Post Properties, Inc. in Atlanta. Before entering the real estate profession, she was a social worker in Manhattan.

Shire, of White Plains, graduated from American University in 1989 and received her B.A. in public affairs. She and her husband, Robert, have a three-year old daughter, Ilana.

The board of trustees of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine has conferred upon Eugene H. Webb, president of Webb & Brooker Real Estate, the honorary degree of doctor of humane letters at the June 6 commencement exercises held at Lincoln Center.

Webb is a member of the board of trustees of the college, a member of the board of directors of the Real Estate Board of New York, and a member of the board of directors of the Association of Builders & Owners.

John V. Terrana, a partner at the Mineola-based law firm Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn, LLP and head of the firm's tax certiorari department, has been appointed chair of the Nassau County Bar Association's tax certiorari and condemnation committee.

A resident of Wantagh, Terrana has concentrated his legal career in the area of tax certiorari and condemnation, with a combination of municipal, and private practice experience. He is a regular contributor to publications that deal with real estate tax matters and an expert source for reportage and commentary in the media. Prior to joining FCSMC&C in 1993, Terrana served as deputy county attorney for Nassau county, practicing in the areas of tax certiorari, condemnation, tax lien litigation, and real estate. He later became the Glen Cove City Attorney, where he was general counsel to all of the City's departments and boards, and to the Glen Cove Community Development Agency and the Glen Cove Industrial Development Agency

Terrana earned his J.D. at St. John's University School of Law and is licensed in New York. He is a member of the New York State and the Nassau County Bar Association, and is also a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association tax certiorari and condemnation committee.

The New Jersey office of The Staubach Company has named Frank J. Cotilla senior vice president and director of operations. He will be responsible for developing the design and construction consulting group in the firm's New Jersey office.

Prior to joining the firm, Cotilla was a senior portfolio manger with Colliers ABR, Inc., where he oversaw a 7 million SF portfolio in New York City and Stamford, Conn. In addition, he provided management services for Merrill Lynch's 3.5-million-SF facility at 2 World Financial Center, HarperCollins' and Louis Vitton Moet-Hennessy's corporate headquarters, and 9 West's corporate headquarters in Stamford.

Previously, he was employed by Equity Office Properties Trust, where he oversaw the management and repositioning of 850 Third Ave.

Cotilla is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association and a past recipient of its prestigious Building of the Year Award. He received his BSME from Tulane University and resides in Franklin Park, N.J.

EMG, the commercial real estate consultant firm, announced that James Ryan has joined its sales team as New York regional vice president. Ryan will be responsible for business development and client liaison activities in the New York and New Jersey markets.

Ryan brings with him more than 20 years of experience in business development for a full array of real estate due diligence services, including valuation, environmental and engineering, tax and conduit based underwriting. Prior to joining EMG, Ryan served as director of national sales for a real estate due diligence firm in New York City.

Enrique Yon Rohr has been appointed creative director of the graphic design firm Design 360.

In his new position, Von Rohr will be involved with marketing and business development for the company and will oversee day-to-day business operations.

In addition, he will provide project oversight and will lend his creative energy and vision to the development of creative concepts. Von-Rohr has been with Design36O for five years. He specializes in print graphics, visual identity, and web page design and is experienced in all phases of the design and production process. He has worked on projects for organizations such as the IBM, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Silverstein Properties.

A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor of fine arts in visual communications, Von Rohr is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Artists.

CB Richard Ellis has announced the promotion of Frank Tomasulo to senior vice president. Tomasulo has over 20 years of real estate experience in the disposition and acquisition of over 10 million SF of commercial property, including representation of corporate users, institutional owners and developers.

Since joining the firm in 1979, after a successful sales and management career with Baxter Travenol Laboratories, he has been the firm's top broker' in Westchester County, consistently ranked with the company's top brokers in the Northeast:

Over the past two years, Tomasulo and his team have been responsible for the lease and sale of properties in the New York suburban market, such as Nine West Group Inc. (213,000 SF), Port Authority of NY/NJ (424,000 SF) and Principal Financial Group (520,000 SF.)

Tomasulo holds a BA in English and an MBA in organizational behavior from Iona College. He is also a member of the real estate executive committee of the March of Dimes, the Westchester County Association and NACORE International. He resides in Katonah.

Bergman Real Estate Group announced the appointment of Michael DiFede as director of business development. He will help guide the firm's expanding program of new acquisitions as it adds to its portfolio of New Jersey office buildings and creates new, joint venture relationships with financial partners.

DiFede brings a great deal of experience and expertise to the position. Over the last 20 years he has been involved in virtually every aspect of the business, having begun his career at Teachers Insurance in asset management. In 1984, Difede joined Citicorp Real Estate Investment Advisors, where he worked with the pension fund advisory group.
