Lawrence Properties announced that Michelle Ritchie has been recently appointed as the firm's director of financial services. In her new position, Ritchie will be responsible for the financial well-being of more than 75 buildings in the company's portfolio.

Prior to joining Lawrence, Ritchie served as vice president and managing director of the residential management division at Insignia Financial Services. Before that, she worked at the Kreisel Company, where she was responsible for overseeing' the firm's accounting operations. Ritchie is in expert in debt restructuring, long-term financing, and short-term loans.

David Sherman has been promoted to executive managing director of Insignia/ESG's New Jersey office in Saddle Brook, announced executive director Patrick Murphy.

In 2000, Sherman was responsible for nearly 750,000 SF of office leasing activity on behalf of both tenants and owners, including the 313,000-SF AboveNet Communications lease in Jersey City, NJ; the 56,000 SF headquarters lease for the BLP Group Companies in Wayne, NJ; and the 38,500-SF lease for Paradigm Direct in Fort Lee, NJ.

Sherman joined Insignia/ESG as a managing director following the company's opening of its New Jersey office in 1987. He was promoted to senior managing director in January 1995.

Shire, of White Plains, graduated from American University in 1989 and received her B.A. in public affairs. She and her husband, Robert, have a three-year old daughter, Ilana.
