Cushman & Wakefield announced that a group of seven leading real estate brokers from Jones Lang Wootton have joined the firm's New York City offices. John Gray (photo), Peter Van Duyne and John Picco have joined as senior directors and together with Amarante, are based in C&W's Midtown office.

Also joining in the Midtown move are long-time partners Richard Sykes (photo) and Patrick Gardner director. John Moxley joins the Downtown office as associate director. John Gray and Peter Van Duyne (photo) previously served as senior vice presidents at Jones Lang Wootton USA. Partners for the last 17 years, the duo have specialized in corporate relocations and lease transactions in excess of five million square feet, primarily in New York City and the suburban markets. Gray began his career at Charles Mackall & Co., where he worked from 1979 through 1995 and last held the title of executive vice president. He earned a BA in History and Economics from Hobart College in 1979 and is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Prior to JLW, Van Duyne spent 10 years at Charles Mackall and Co., specializing in landlord and tenant representation throughout the New York area. He earned a BS in Economics from Lehigh University and is a member of the Real Estate of New York.

John Picco (photo) previously served as senior vice president in the New York office of JLW USA, a position he assumed in 1996. During his 22-year real estate career, Picco is credited with completing transactions for several million square feet of space in the New York area.

At JLW, Picco conducted tenant and landlord representation assignments in Manhattan and the suburban markets. His client list includes IBM Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Time Warner Cable, the Travelers, Winterthur Swiss Reinsurance Company, Garban, LLC and Transamerica Corporation.

Previously, Picco was senior managing director for Edward S. Gordon Company in White Plains, NY, covering the Westchester/Fairfield markets. There, he played a key role in the sale of 2000 Purchase Street, the former N.A. Headquarters of IBM in Purchase, New York to the MasterCard Corporation. This was the largest sale concluded in Westchester during 1994 and he was honored with the firm's "Top Broker of the Year" award for Westchester/Fairfield Counties. Previously, he served as executive vice president at Kenneth D. Laub & Company, Inc. in New York.

Picco received a BBA in Real Estate from Pace University and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison for undergraduate studies.

Richard Sykes and Patrick Gardner III (photo), who have been partners for the last 15 years, previously served as senior vice presidents at JLW. Sykes devoted his career to specializing in international real estate. During his 30 years of experience, he has represented multi-national corporations throughout North America, Europe, South America and Africa. In 1983 he relocated to the U.S. to set up a commercial leasing division in New York for Richard Ellis, a firm with whom he was associated for 16 years. In 1985 he formed his own business in New York committed to tenant representation to major corporations throughout America.

The firm merged with Jones Lang Wootton in 1997. His professional activities have involved corporations such as Allied Irish Bank, British Petroleum, Clifford Chance and Dell Computers. In 1985 he was elected a director of the British American Chamber of Commerce and continues to serve as chairman of a number of committees and as their real estate consultant.

Gardner has 16 years of experience as a commercial real estate broker representing prominent international and national corporations, during which time he is credited with completing transactions for several million square feet of space in the NY area. With a masters degree in International Management, he has a thorough understanding of the uniqueness of major corporations.

John Moxley (photo) previously served as a senior vice president of Jones Lang Wootton, specializing in tenant and landlord representation. He began his real estate career in 1984 and has been involved in local, national and international leasing transactions in excess of a million square feet and he has been responsible for over 5 million square feet of building agencies in the New York area. Select tenants represented include: Waterhouse Securities, AG Edwards & Sons, American International Group (AIG), and Siemens Corp.

Moxley received a BA degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1981 and has completed graduate work at the NYU Real Estate Institute. He began his career at Coldwell Banker Commercial, where he worked from 1984 through 1988. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Philip Amarante (photo) previously served as an assistant vice president at Jones Lang Wootton USA. Over the last several years, Philip has developed a niche in the representation of technology and new media companies in Manhattan. He began his career at the Edward S. Gordon Company in 1993 serving the Downtown Manhattan market. He has been involved with office space dispositions for companies including Skandia Reinsurance, Milbank, Tweed Hadley & McCoy, and NBC Studios.

The International Toy Center appointed Peggy A. Reardon (photo), a professional meeting planner, to the post of director of events, according to Thomas A. Arbuckle, the ITC's managing director. In her new position, Reardon is responsible for planning, promoting and managing a series of year-round events at the facility, including the Pre-line Show in October, monthly mixers and, most importantly, the Toy Fair at the ITC.

"Peggy is a welcome addition to the ITC team," Arbuckle said. "Her experience and expertise as an events professional will enable us to continue strengthening the activities that we sponsor here in behalf of our tenants and the children's entertainment and seasonal products industries."

A member of Meeting Professionals International, Reardon previously worked as manager of meetings and conventions at Viewer's Choice, a NYC-based company that provides Pay-Per-View programs to cable television subscribers. Her responsibilities included designing and implementing high-impact themes and promotions for meetings, conventions and trade shows.

Before joining Viewer's Choice, Reardon held progressively more responsible meeting management positions with associations in Washington, D.C., including the American Logistics Association and U.S. Term Limits.

Reardon is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University.

Julien J. Studley, chairman and president of the national commercial real estate firm Julien J. Studley, Inc., announced the promotion of Kurt Handschumacher (photo) to senior managing director. Since joining Studley in 1979, Handschumacher has risen to become the company's senior financial analyst. He has led the analytical team in many of the firm's most visible assignments and has developed most of the financial models that the company presently uses.

Handschumacher's major clients include American Civil Liberties Union, Banque Nationale de Paris, Credit Suisse Asset Management, Consulate of Japan and Solomon Brothers.

Prior to joining Studley, Handschumacher worked as a contract geophysicist in uranium exploration for several major oil companies. He holds a degree in geology from Hampton College.

Scott H. Gamber (photo), a real estate professional specializing in tenant representation, has joined Insignia/ ESG's Midtown Manhattan office as a senior managing director. The announcement was made by Joseph R. Harbert, COO of Insignia/ESG's New York Metro region.

Gamber is responsible for a number of recent high-profile transactions in New York City, including Brown & Wood LLP's 233,000 square-foot, 15-year lease at One World Trade Center. He has also undertaken multi-million square foot real estate advisory projects on behalf of several well-known financial institutions and professional services firms nationwide, including Chase/Chemical Bank and KPMG.

"Scott sees himself as a corporate real estate advisor rather than merely a transactor, which means he will fit in perfectly at Insignia/ESG," said Harbert. "Our clients today demand more from their real estate service provider than simple fulfillment of space needs - it is our job to help clients achieve a thorough understanding of the financial, operational and qualitative aspects of their real estate."

Prior to joining Insignia/ESG, Gamber spent nine years with Jones Lang LaSalle's New York City office. Before his career in the real estate service industry, he worked in Corporate Finance at Bear Stearns and Shearson Lehman Brothers for 13 years.

Gamber holds a Masters in Business Administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College.

Kiplyn Young, CBSE (photo), an industry veteran with over 15 years' experience in the commercial maintenance field, has been named vice president of Harvard Maintenance, Inc., one of Manhattan's premier independent maintenance contractors. As vice president, Young will oversee all aspects of the company's relations with large clients in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She will be involved in all of Harvard's daily business operations, from maintaining the firm's diligent customer service practices, to marketing the company's integrated maintenance, business and security services to potential clients.

Prior to joining the Harvard team, Young served as executive vice president for Red River Sanitors, Inc., a privately owned maintenance company in Shreveport, LA. Young has been awarded the title of Certified Building Services Executive, bestowed upon her by the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI), the largest international facilities services, trade organization.
