The Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate has named four New York area real estate professionals to its 2001 executive committee, chief executive James A. Fetgatter announced.

David C. Sherwood, chief investment officer of SPP Investment Management, Greenwich, Conn., has been named deputy chairman of the 2001 board of directors. Sherwood is the chief information officer of SPP Investment Management's global real estate portfolio and the chief executive officer of SPP Real Estate USA, Inc.

Before moving to the U.S. in 1982, Sherwood worked in London in the institutional property investment business. He joined SPP in 1991 as its U.S. investment director and became responsible for the global portfolio in 1997.

Robert D. McSween, chief executive officer of ING Realty Partners, has been named treasurer. McSween initially joined ING in February 1993 to build a real estate group involved in lending, loan trading and value-added property investment.

Prior to joining ING, McSween directed the commercial mortgage finance group and real estate loan syndications at Citicorp. Investment Bank.

Hans-Christian Ritter, executive vice president and speaker of Landesbank Hessen-Thuringen's (Helaba) New York branch, has been named member at large. In his role as president of DIV Management Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Helaba's real estate investment firm, he is directly involved in the bank's U.S. equity investments.

Ritter has held various corporate finance positions for U.S. and German banks since 1976.

Orna L. Shulman (photo), chief operating officer of Intertech Corporation, has been named economic and legislative chairwoman. She joined Zapco Holdings as general counsel in 1988 and began implementing Intertech's real estate strategy in 1989.

Tudor Realty Services Corp. has announced the appointment of Marc Kotler to the newly created position of director of management. Kotler has been with Tudor Realty since the firm's inception ten years ago and has served as a property manager and director of operations. In his new position, Kotler will be responsible for overseeing the management division and developing new business.

GCP Capital Group LLC is pleased to announce that Judd A. Volk has recently joined the firm. Volk has been a participant in the growth of the mortgage conduit industry, having served as a senior executive at two national conduit firms, Remsen Partners and ValuExpress, and then as the founder and president of Celtic Financial Group.

He has been involved in the financing of more than $600 million in security and conduit financing, and has arranged loans for all types of commercial real estate. Prior to entering the commercial mortgage industry, Volk was employed at Kenneth Leventhal & Company in the real estate consulting department.

Belkin Burden Wenig & Goldman, LLP announced that Matthew S. Brett, Joshua G. Losardo, and Ann E. Ryan have become associated with the firm. In addition, Paul Kazanecki has joined the firm as a non-attorney legal assistant.

Brett will practice in the area of litigation, Losardo in the area of administrative law and government relations, and Ryan in the areas of commercial leasing, conveyancing, and real estate transactions.

Kazanecki has been engaged for the past 15 years in the preparation and filing of major capital improvement rent increase applications and J-51 tax abatement filings with the city.

Robert A. Belfer has been elected chairman of the board of overseers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.

Belfer, founder of Belco Oil and Gas Corp., succeeds Bur ton P. Resnick, the New York real estate developer who served as chairman for the past 19 years. Resnick continues on the board as chairman emeritus. A member of the board since 1973, Belfer has held several leadership positions, including board treasurer and chairperson of the budget and finance committee.

Belfer is a graduate of Columbia University and the Harvard Law School. After completing law school, he joined the Belco Petroleum Corp., a Fortune 500 company. He was elected president in 1960 and was named chairman in 1985.

Howard J. Levine, president and chief executive officer of ARCS Commercial Mortgage Co., LP announced the appointment of Shelly Eisenberg to the post of vice president of loan closings.

Eisenberg comes to ARCS with nearly 20 years of experience in multifamily finance. Prior to joining ARCS, she was with Freddie Mac, where she was responsible for business development, underwriting, customer relations, and market analysis for multi-family loans in the western United States. She has also served in various analytic and managerial capacities with Coast Federal Bank, Long Beach Savings, and Gibraltar Savings.

John B. Coppedge III has been promoted to executive vice president of international operations for Cushman & Wakefield. Coppedge will direct the firm's international operations.

Coppedge will work on a collaborative basis with Cushman & Wakefield's new president of U.S. operations Bruce E. Mosler in serving the needs of the firm's multi-national clients. He will also work to increase the firm's market share, particularly in the emerging markets of Asia and South America. He has been affiliated with Cushman & Wakefield since 1977.

Prior to his current position, he served as a broker, branch manager, regional director of financial services, managing director of European/Asian operations, and executive managing director of international services.

Coppedge is a member of the Cushman & Wakefield board of directors, as well as a member of the Healey & Baker board of management. He is currently based in Cushman & Wakefield's New York City headquarters.

CoStar Group announced that Michael Arabe was promoted to vice president of customer service and support.

In this newly created position, Arabe will combine his leadership skills and expertise in customer care with CoStar's existing customer service infrastructure to create a customer service and support organization.

He will oversee day-to-day operations of the service department including a national team of support consultants and two technical support call centers. Most recently, Arabe was responsible for sales of CoStar COMPS and, prior to CoStar's acquisition of COMPS.com, he planned and executed national expansion for that product area.

Since Arabe joined the company in 1989 he has held a variety of positions in senior management. Arabe established the customer service department at COMPS and relied on on-going market research to determine customer preferences, design product upgrades and develop new product offerings. He also set up an accounts program that implemented business partnerships with large corporate clients to satisfy their data requirements.

Norman B. Steinberg, has joined the Praedium Group as vice president of asset management, announced Russell L. Appel, president of the Praedium Group.

In addition to his involvement in various consulting assignments, including office market studies and redevelopment plans, Steinberg is a former principal of the Renaissance Group, a former vice president of Prudential Realty Group, and a manager in the consulting group of Kenneth Leventhal & Company.

Steinberg holds an M.B.A. in finance from New York University's Stern School of Business, and a B.A. in economics from Columbia University. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at New York University's Real Estate Institute, where he teaches courses in real estate valuation and finance.

Theresa Minervini of New Rochelle, N.Y., has recently been appointed sales counselor at Classic Residence by Hyatt in Yonkers. Minervini will be responsible for continuing sales initiatives.

Prior to joining Classic Residence by Hyatt, Minervini was a group sales director at Sports Plus at New Roc City in New Rochelle. From 1995 to 1999, she worked with the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel in East Elmhurst as a sales and catering manager/wedding consultant. She also worked with Cafe on the Green Restaurant in Bayside as a sales and catering manger, and with the Lobster Shanty/Sammy's Fish Box Inc. in City Island as a manager.

She attended Westchester Community College in Valhalla.

Elsas has been in the real estate business since 1993. Prior to that, she was an actress in film, theater, and television. She currently performs with the Westchester Chorale Society. Elsas has been a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Club of the Westchester Board of Realtors, and a First Realty Group award recipient.

A native New Yorker, she has lived in the community with her family for more than 25 years.
