The YWCA of the City of New York honored Maureen Waters, senior managing director of business development for Cushman & Wakefield, at its luncheon for the Academy of Women Achievers, Class of 2000.

Waters changed C&W's commercial real estate marketing and, in less than two years, developed and trained a diverse and nationally recognized team of more than 50 marketing professionals. She is an industry speaker, and serves her community as a board member and member of more than half a dozen educational and religious organizations.

More than a thousand New York real estate professionals will join the Diabetes, Research Institute's real estate division to honor Colliers ABR's Peter G. Riguardi at its annual Empire Ball Dec. 6 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The black tie gala benefit will support the Diabetes Research Institute.

As executive vice president and a principal partner of Colliers ABR, Riguardi has established himself as one of the industry's premier deal makers. He is perhaps best known for being the driving force behind one of the largest lease transactions in New York City history -- the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's 1.6 million-square-foot net lease of the 32-story office building at 2 Broadway.

In another transaction, Riguardi helped negotiate the ground lease for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's development at 745 Seventh Ave., which is now under construction. Some of his other notable transactions include Merrill Lynch's acquisition of 99 Hudson St. in Jersey City, N.J., and 222 Broadway in Manhattan, as well as a number of major leases on behalf of Morgan Stanley, including 150,000 square feet at 1221 Ave. of the Americas.

CIBS World Markets Corp. announced the appointment of David A. Cohen as executive director of its real estate finance group.

Frank Tardif, managing director/branch manager of GVA Williams of N.J., reported the appointment of Joseph E. Boiseau as director of corporate services.

Boiseau will be based at the company's Parsippany, N.J. offices. He will be responsible for advising GVA clients on overall strategic real estate planning and occupancy strategies.

Prior to joining GVA Williams, Boiseau served as vice president of North American services for Princeton Softech. In this capacity, he was responsible for building a professional services organization for the software products company.

Previously, he was the chairman and chief executive of Computers at Work, Ltd., a company he co-founded in the mobile computing technologies field. Boiseau also served as executive vice president of sales at Medco Containment Services, Inc., the president of the Medco Group, and the president of Paid Prescriptions, Inc. In these positions, he was instrumental for the formation of Medco. Earlier in his career, Boiseau was a division president, as well as a divisional vice president of sales and marketing for Computer Sciences Corporation and the national sales director of the communications industry services division of CSC's INFONET unit.

Boiseau is a graduate of the University of Maryland. He also served four years with the United States Air Force, exiting as a captain. He resides in Warren Twp. N.J.

Special Olympics New York honored Gary Greenspan of Cushman & Wakefied, Inc. at the annual Real Estate and Construction gala at the Grand Hyatt Nov. 15.

Greenspan has demonstrated great commitment to the athletes, their families, and the coaches of Special Olympics New York. The proceeds from the black tie gala will benefit the nearly 40,000 athletes who participate in the Olympics.

W. P. Carey & Co. LLC recently announced the appointment of Yasmin Guerrero as vice president.

Guerrero joined W. P. Carey as a staff accountant in June 1988, after graduating from Pace University, where she received a B.B.A. in public accounting. She was elected second vice president in April 1998 and vice president in April 2000.

Houlihan/Lawrence Inc. recently announced that Michael Longo joined the company as a sales associate at its Scarsdale, N.Y. office.

Prior to joining Houlihan/Lawrence, Longo worked in home improvement sales and has been a real estate investor. He holds a B.S. in economics and finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, N.J. Longo is married with three children, and coaches his son's baseball and football teams.

W. P. Carey & Co. LLC recently announced the appointment of Louisa H. Quarto as vice president.

Quarto was elected vice president of marketing in March 2000. Her current responsibilities include managing broker-dealer relationships for the company. She joined W. P. Carey & Co. as an associate marketing director in February 1996, was elected assistant secretary in 1997 and second vice president in 1999. Prior to joining the company she was an associate with Kokusai Investment Trust Management Co. Ltd. and has worked for Asahi Bank. Quarto received a B.A. in international relations from Bucknell University and an M.B.A in finance and marketing from the Stem School of Business" at New York University.

Cindy G. Hyatt has been named chief financial and operating officer of Mountain Funding Inc., a private real estate lender and investor based in Parsippany, N.J. Hyatt will be based in the firm's Charlotte; NC office.

In this new position, Hyatt is responsible for the accounting/finance division, the information technology division, and the overall general operations of the company.

Hyatt's prior positions include serving as vice president/chief information officer for SARES-REGIS Group, a diversified real estate firm in Irvine, CA and as senior financial consultant for the J.D. Edwards Company, an international software firm

She has received numerous academic and industry awards including "Who's Who in America's Colleges" and the international "Who's Who Top 500 Information Technology Professionals."

Hyatt attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC, majoring in accounting and business administration/management. She is a member of several real estate organizations including the Construction Financial Management Association, Commercial Real Estate Women, and the National Association of Home Builders.

W. P. Carey & Co. LLC recently announced the appointment of Nichole B. Lefort as vice president.

Lefort joined W. P. Carey & Co. as a marketing associate in 1997. She was elected a second vice president in April 1999 and was elevated to vice president in April 2000.

As a regional director within W. P. Carey's marketing department, she is responsible for wholesaling Corporate Property Associates 14 Incorporated, a real estate investment trust in several states, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Ohio.

Prior to joining the company, Lefort worked in management for DC Retail I, Inc. of New England. She received a B.A. from the State University of New York.

Cushman & Wakefield has promoted Steven D. Smith to managing director of asset services for the Midwest region.

In this position he oversees Cushman & Wakefield's Midwest portfolio of more than 20 million square feet of properties and facilities in Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, Minneapolis and Cleveland. He previously served as director of asset services for the Midwest region.

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield in 1996, Smith served as senior vice president of Miglin-Beitler Management Corp. where he supervised property management, product leasing, construction, client relations and business development. With more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience, Smith has represented a number of institutional clients including Citicorp, CIGNA, Equitable and Prudential.

Smith received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University. He is a board member and the current president of the Building Owners and Managers Association's Chicago chapter.

OnSite Access, Inc. has promoted John R. Reese to the position of executive vice president of operations and engineering. Reese was formerly senior vice president of operations and engineering.

In his new role, Reese will continue to oversee construction, engineering, and operation of OnSite Access' network, as well as the integration of services into OnSite's operations, including local and long distance voice services, point-to-point private line services for voice and data applications, dial-up Internet access, and calling card services. He will also be responsible for the customer and network provisioning departments. Reese joined OnSite Access in March 2000.

Prior to joining the company, Reese served in various capacities at Teleport Communications Group and AT&T Local Services. Most recently he was regional vice president for New York and New Jersey operations at AT&T Local Services, where he oversaw network operations for the company's largest markets. Previous roles at TCG and AT&T Local Services included vice president of product management, vice president of national engineering, and vice president of TCG provisioning center, among others.

Reese received an M.B.A. from the University of Dallas and a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.
