 Lopez, 65, has been coming to Hansen Dam Hansen Dam in Los Angeles County, California was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District in 1939 and 1940. The project is located near the northern edge of the San Fernando Valley on Tujunga Wash, about one mile below the confluence of the Big Tujunga Wash  every morning for the last five years to jog.

Lopez says he usually completes about eight to 10 miles, but sometimes jogs up to 13. This training is what has helped him prepare for the many marathons he has participated in.

He credits his good health to jogging jogging

 and stretching every morning. And because he plans on living his entire life healthy, he says he will continue to run. ``I can stay healthy ... and send doctors to hell,'' Lopez said.

But he does not go it alone.

He met Pacoima resident Adolfo Cortez, 56, about five months ago at Hansen Dam and the pair have been jogging partners ever since. Lopez says Cortez is a natural-born jogger, therefore he is an ideal partner.
