MAN KILLED WHEN CAR GOES OFF 101 FREEWAY.

WOODLAND HILLS -- An 82-year-old Woodland Hills man was killed Monday when his car flew off the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. It is the principal east-west route through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.  and into a parking garage, authorities said.

The man, who was not identified pending notification of his family, died at the scene of the 4:25 p.m. crash near the Shoup Avenue exit. Nobody else was injured in·jure

A 27-year-old Oakland woman was heading north on the 101 Freeway when she attempted to change lanes and collided with the 82-year-old man's car, police said.

His car veered off the freeway, careened down an embankment, crashed through brush and a chain-link fence, and plowed into a car parked in the garage in the 22100 block of Burbank Boulevard.

The parked car belonged to Leonor Gonzalez, who lives in a condo in the complex. She was making a phone call when she heard a crash and smelled smoke.

"I came running and hoped that he missed my car, but it didn't," she said.
