MAN HELD AFTER KILLING; SUSPECT, 25, ARRESTED IN WOMAN'S SHOOTING.Byline: Sherry Joe Crosby Daily News Staff Writer A 25-year-old Woodland Hills man was being held without bail Saturday on suspicion of shooting a woman to death while her son was in the apartment, police said Saturday. Kevin Daniel Driscoll was booked at the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys jail for investigation of murder ``due to conflicting statements and evidence,'' said Sgt. Chate Asvanonda of the LAPD's West Valley station Valley Station, uninc. town (1990 pop. 22,840), Jefferson co., N central Ky, S of Louisville. It is a primarily residential community.. The shooting occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday when officers were called to investigate a report that someone had been assaulted with a deadly weapon in a Woodland Hills apartment in the 22100 block of Burbank Blvd. Driscoll, who called the police, told officers he had just shot his wife accidentally and led them to a bedroom where they discovered Shahrzad Azizi, 30, lying on the floor, Asvanonda said. The victim, whom police described as Driscoll's live-in companion, was critically wounded. She was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital Medical Center at 6:30 p.m., Asvanonda said. During the investigation, detectives learned that Driscoll and the woman had been involved in a violent argument just before the fatal shooting. The victim's 9-year-old son from a previous marriage was at home, heard the argument and then gunfire, but did not witness the shooting, said Detective Rick Swanston of the West Valley station. The boy was placed in the care of his father, he said. The case will be submitted to the District Attorney's Office next week, Asvanonda said. |
