A 20-year-man and a boy, 14, were arrested a short time later Sunday, the younger suspect caught hiding the trendy music players behind a wall near a bus bench, sheriff's Lt. Brenda Cambra said Monday.

Higgins of San Bernardino is due to be arraigned today in Newhall Superior Court; the youth, who lives in Valencia, was jailed at Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.

The first robbery was at 3 p.m. Sunday at Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway. A 21-year-old Castaic man said a man and a teen forcibly took his iPod as he was walking from a bus stop to the Westfield Valencia Town Center mall. Shortly before 4 p.m., a 20-year-old Canyon Country man was robbed of his iPod after stepping off a bus near Soledad Canyon Road and Grandiflores Road.

While driving to the second call, deputies saw a man who matched the description of one of the thieves seated on a bus bench, according to a sheriff's report. The youth was nearby, apparently hiding the iPods behind a wall, the report said. The victim in the second incident identified the pair as the two who robbed him, Cambra said.
