MAN, 84, KILLED IN CRASH AFTER CAR VEERS ACROSS I-5.

CASTAIC -- An 84-year-old Fountain Valley Fountain Valley, city (1990 pop. 53,691), Orange co., S Calif.; inc. 1957. A U.S. navy helicopter facility is there.  man was killed and his passenger injured Monday morning when their sedan overturned after veering across Interstate 5's northbound lanes and hitting another car.

The dead man's name was not immediately released pending notification of relatives.

His passenger was identified as Shirley Sprang, 83, of Fountain Valley, who officials said suffered moderate injuries.

The other car's driver, Mary Robinson, 44, of Rocklin, also suffered moderate injuries, officials said. Both women were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Both cars overturned; Robinson's car ended up on its wheels in the median and the Avalon came to rest on its roof in traffic lanes.

The debris damaged a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Joaquin Rodriguez, 45, of Norwalk.
