of the Santa Clarita sheriff's station. Delgado was arraigned on the charges last week.

A 17-year-old Newhall boy is also expected to be arraigned this week in Sylmar Juvenile Hall on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, Miller said. He has been released to his parents.

The suspects are gang members who might have mistaken the 21-year-old victims for members of a rival gang, Miller said.

Delgado and his young accomplice approached the victims about 6 p.m. Oct. 20 as the victims were returning to their car, officials said.

The suspects then began kicking and beating the victims with their fists and a small baseball bat, and stabbed one of the victims in the face with a sharp object, possibly a screwdriver, officials said.

The victims suffered bruises and cuts that required stitches, said Miller. The suspects were taken into custody a short time later after they were seen entering a gas station bathroom with blood on them, officials said.
