MALL FIGHT BREAKS OUT; TWO INJURED.
CANOGA PARK - Two people were injured and four - including one of those hurt - were arrested Tuesday night after a fight erupted in the the Westfield Shoppingtown Topanga mall, officials said.
Police said the fight erupted between four males and an employee at a mall store after a ``stare down.''
The employee, whose name was not immediately available, said he was stabbed with a knife by one of the suspects, who was also injured, but no knife was found, police said.
Police said there was a possibility the employee's injuries were from glass that shattered at the bottom of an escalator during the fight.
The employee suffered injuries to his right torso, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Three of the four males fighting with the employee were arrested and booked on suspicion of battery, police said.
The fourth man involved in the fight, Joseph Sastiel, was taken to West Hills Hospital and Medical Center suffering from cuts to his left foot from broken glass, and was later booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, said LAPD Sgt. Alan Sorkness.
The injuries were reported to the Los Angeles Fire Department at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday, Humphrey said.
The employee was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where his condition was listed as stable; he was expected to be admitted for observation, said a nursing supervisor.
The supervisor said his injuries were not major. ``He's OK,'' she said.
