MAKING GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACES PRODUCTIVE, EASY-TO-USE, AND EASY-TO-LEARN

FAIRFIELD, Iowa, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Human Factors International, Inc. (HFI) introduced "How to Design Usable GUIs for Corporate Applications." This exclusive new video training course aids system developers in creating highly self-evident graphical user interfaces (GUI). Self-evident GUIs improve user speed and accuracy, while dramatically reducing training needs.
HFI president, Dr. Eric Schaffer, C.P.E., observed, "GUI tools are new, flashy and attractive. However, their inappropriate use can cause system development failure, create endless design discussions, and result in poor product usability. Our new video course is key to the successful transition to GUI platforms."
The video course distills the experience of HFI software ergonomics experts who have taught 500 courses and developed over 75 major interfaces. Developers learn to avoid the 157 GUI design errors that are most detrimental to interface usability.
Tape 1: Describes 17 GUI tools, indicates when to use them, and gives key design recommendations for: windows, icons, mice, pulldowns, direct manipulation, drag-and-drop, etc.
Tape 2: How to develop user-centered GUI structure and metaphors.
-- Selecting the correct widgets to optimize user performance
-- Standardizing interfaces and designing windows
The four references guides include: "Do's and Don'ts of 17 GUI Tools," "Widget Selection Rules," "Detailed Design Checklist (layout, color, wording)," and "How to Develop an Effective GUI Standard."
The two videos plus reference guides can be purchased from HFI for $895 plus shipping. Site licensing of the reference guides is also available.
