``The woman screamed, 'Mailman! He just took off with my purse. Get him!,''' Reimer recounted. ``Now, usually when people say 'mailman,' they just ask if you can mail my letter, or if they can buy any stamps.''

Reimer, 55, was on his way home from work in May 2002 when the distressed woman spotted him driving down Camarillo Street near Kester Avenue in Sherman Oaks. The woman identified a running man about two blocks away as the purse snatcher, and Reimer said he had to briefly think what he should do.

Reimer said he ran out of his truck and - along with several passers-by who joined in the chase - helped apprehend the two men. As they waited for police, one of the suspects ran free and Reimer again chased after him in his truck.

Officers arriving at the scene arrested the fleeing suspect after Reimer pointed out the direction he fled in.
