According to A.W. (Tony) DeSio, MBE president and chief executive officer, the record third quarter results are consistent with management expectations. He attributed the growth to an increase in the number of franchises sold coupled with a strong holiday retail sales period. In addition, MBE's sale of master licenses for Australia and New Zealand provided the company with additional third quarter revenue.
MBE is a San Diego-based company that makes its network available to national and international companies as an alternative to establishing or expanding their own service distribution systems. At the close of business on Jan. 31, 1993, MBE had 1,863 domestic service centers operating in 50 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and has entered into master license agreements with licensees for the development of MBE centers in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.
