MAIL BOXES ETC. ADDS TWO NATIONAL ACCOUNTS AND EXPANDS NATIONAL ACCOUNTS SERVICES WITH TOSHIBA

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Mail Boxes Etc. (NASDAQ: MAIL) (MBE) has signed on two new national accounts to handle office equipment packing and shipping duties for customers of both Testar and Ricoh. In addition, Toshiba, which currently participates in the MBE National Accounts program, has extended its packing and shipping program to include a new three-year warranty for items shipped from MBE Centers.
MBE is the world's largest franchiser of neighborhood retail service centers specializing in postal, business and communications services. Each MBE franchise is independently owned and operated.
Owners of Ricoh office equipment can now bring any Ricoh fax machine, copier or scanner needing repair to their nearest Mail Boxes Etc. service center to have it packed and shipped to a Ricoh service facility at no cost to the customer. Similarly, owners of IBM, Hewlett- Packard, Compaq and other brands of personal computers protected by repair warranties may now bring their desktop or notebook computers to their nearest Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE) service center for packing and shipping to Testar, one of the largest providers of warranty repair services to original equipment manufacturers.
Toshiba's new T-PAK program, an optional prepaid packaging and shipping service, provides convenient access for a small annual fee for customers to pack, insure and ship Toshiba office products overnight from a Mail Boxes Etc. location. The service may be used indefinitely throughout the enrollment period.
"We are pleased to welcome Ricoh and Testar to MBE's `Pack and Ship Program,'" said Tony DeSio, president and chief executive officer of Mail Boxes Etc. "These two companies have joined a growing roster of major companies, such as Xerox and Nintendo, that use MBE's established, coat-to-coast network of 2,000 service centers as an alternative to establishing or expanding their own service distribution system," said DeSio.
DeSio went on to say that Toshiba's new T-PAK warranty program further enhances the MBE concept of providing quality packing and shipping services through MBE centers. He added that "customers of Ricoh, Testar and Toshiba office equipment very closely match the profile of MBE clientele: typically home-based businesses owners and small office clients that will provide additional marketing opportunities for MBE."
Mail Boxes Etc.'s network of more than 2,000 independently owned and operated retail services centers operate throughout the United States and 29 countries internationally.
