MAI SYSTEMS CORP. ANNOUNCES THAT IT IS ENGAGED IN NEGOTIATIONS FOR

THE SALE OF ITS GERMAN, AUSTRIAN AND SWISS OPERATING SUBSIDIARIES
TUSTIN, Calif., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- MAI Systems Corp. (NYSE: MCO) announced today that it is engaged in negotiations with a European management buyout firm for the sale of its German, Austrian and Swiss operating subsidiaries. Robert J. Amman, vice chairman, stated: "Although the terms of sale have not yet been finally agreed to, nor has the buyer finished its due diligence activities, we at MAI are hopeful that the sale can be completed by Aug. 1. Proceeds from the sale will be used primarily to reduce significantly MAI's bank debt, which reduction will result in an extension of its maturity."
