MAHONY TO LEAD EASTER SERVICE AT ST. VIBIANA'S.

Cardinal Roger Mahony His Eminence Roger Michael Cardinal Mahony (born February 27, 1936) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He currently serves as the fourth Archbishop of Los Angeles, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1991.  will celebrate Easter Mass at St. Vibiana's Cathedral downtown this morning, a day after leading an annual Eastertime animal blessing ritual.

The church is at 114 E. Second St. It and other sunrise celebrations are scheduled for 6 a.m.

Eastertime celebrations began Saturday with fun-filled Easter egg hunts sponsored by local organizations.

At Recreation Park in San Fernando on Saturday morning, children grasping colorful wicker baskets scattered across the grass, competing with some adults.
