As Marudo grows older, he is shunned by the rest of the villagers. Unfortunately, when he gets angry, the demon arises out of him. He has a good heart, though, and works hard to keep the monster contained. He strives to be accepted as he is and even hopes to someday be the village leader. Louise Xu, 14, of Reseda said she and her friends are crazy about manga. They frequently go to Web sites such as www.fanfiction.net and www.mediaminer.org, where they can write their own manga stories and post them. Bloch said getting young people interested in manga graphic novels also gets them into other types of literature and, hopefully, will make them faithful library users.
