MAITLAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 2002

M2 Systems Corporation has announced that one of its customers, Noridian Administrative Services, a division of Noridian Mutual Insurance Company, is the first Medicare intermediary in the country to put the HIPAA-compliant X12.837 Institutional Format into production with live trading partners.

Noridian is a Medicare claims processor for twelve states. "M2 Systems' ENGIN product has allowed us to meet today's HIPAA compliance mandates, and it has prepared us for tomorrow's technological needs, while preserving legacy systems," said Noridian Administrative Services Medicare Operations Manager Jeff Harmon.

M2 Systems Corporation specializes in providing efficient, cost-saving delivery systems for the healthcare industry. Additionally, M2 Systems focuses heavily on the support of all HIPAA regulation and mandates as prescribed by the Department of Health and Human Services. Noridian has been a customer of M2 Systems since 1998. Noridian selected M2 Systems to implement intelligent messaging infrastructure based on M2 Systems' ENGIN product. ENGIN supports multiple business applications including an electronic gateway for supporting all information-based transactions (in numerous and various formats), any-to-any connectivity, translation, and interoperability; and an electronic claims clearinghouse solution that provides full and complete support for all administrative and system functions.

About Noridian Mutual Insurance Company

Noridian Mutual Insurance Company is the licensed Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan in North Dakota. Started as separate pre-paid healthcare plans for hospital and physician services, it merged the companies in 1986 as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. In 1998 the company restructured as a nonprofit mutual insurance company owned by its policyholders. Noridian has been innovative in its approach to expanding its offering of products and services. It has entered into several joint ventures and administrative contracts and has created subsidiary companies to offer a full range of employee benefit products and services. Although the company continues to do business in North Dakota as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (http://www.BCBSND.com), its Medicare operations (http://www.noridianmedicare.com) continue to grow. As a result, Noridian Mutual is currently working to reorganize this division as a limited liability company and a wholly owned subsidiary.
