M-systems' IDE flash disk now available as a drop-in replacement.

Previously available in a 2.5-inch case, the new IDE Plus product is now available in a case measuring 3.5-inches wide by 1-inch thick in capacities up to 28GB. This new product, with its 40-pin connector, is designed to be a drop in replacement for 3.5-inch ATA mechanical disks within mission critical systems that require highly reliable operation within harsh environmental conditions.

"There is a huge deployment of 3.5-inch ATA mechanical disks within mission critical applications that need to be upgraded," said Ofer Tsur, M-Systems' marketing manager for FFD products. "As a true drop in replacement for 3.5-inch ATA mechanical disks, the FFD 3.5-inch IDE Plus provides a smooth migration for demanding applications within military and aerospace, telecommunication, transportation and factory automation systems."

In addition to high reliability, all of M-Systems' FFD IDE Plus products offer sustained read and write rates up to 13MB per second and advanced security features. Each product incorporates fast security erase and sanitize (purge) features complying with security guidance from the Department of Defense (DoD 5220.22-M National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual), National Security Agency (NSA 130-2), Air Force (AFSSI 5020), Army (380-19) and the Navy (Navso 5239).
