The 3.5-inch FFD Ultra-Wide SCSI A SCSI interface that transfers 16 bits in parallel rather than 8 bits. See SCSI. is a high-performance solid-state flash disk with a burst read/write rate of 40.0MB per second, a sustained read rate of 28.5MB per second and a sustained write rate of 23.5MB per second.

Designed for systems that require high performance while maintaining top data reliability under harsh environmental conditions, M-Systems' FFD 3.5-inch Ultra-Wide SCSI is an ideal solution for military and airborne systems, video and audio servers, telecommunications systems and high availability computing systems.

"The FFD Ultra-Wide SCSI offers an extremely reliable storage solution for applications demanding high performance with a SCSI interface," said Ofer Tsur, M-Systems' FFD marketing director. "Leading military customers have already chosen our FFD Ultra-Wide SCSI as their COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) solid state storage solution for Radar, Sonar, Data Recorders and other mission-critical applications."

About M-Systems' FFD 3.5-Inch Ultra-Wide SCSI and Other FFD

Products

M-Systems' Fast Flash Disk (FFD) products are state-of-the-art solid-state disks based on NAND flash technology. The 3.5-inch Ultra-Wide SCSI FFD is fully compatible with SCSI-3 (hardware) SCSI-3 - An ongoing standardisation effort to extend the capabilities of SCSI-2. SCSI-3's goals are more devices on a bus (up to 32); faster data transfer; greater distances between devices (longer cables); more device classes and command sets; structured documentation; and a structured protocol model.

In SCSI-2, data transmission is parallel (8, 16 or 32 bit wide).
and SCSI-2 SCSI-2 - Small Computer System Interface 2 interfaces available with standard 68-pin or SCA 80-pin connectors that can be used as a drop-in replacement for standard 3.5-inch Ultra-Wide SCSI magnetic hard disks.

In conjunction with the 3.5-inch Ultra-Wide SCSI FFD, M-Systems' state-of-the-art TrueFFS(R) technology with its dynamic wear-leveling algorithm provides enhanced endurance and maximum data integrity. The quick security erase feature found on M-Systems' FFD products enables defense customers to totally erase the entire disk media within 5 seconds.

In addition to the 3.5-inch Ultra-Wide SCSI FFD, M-Systems offers additional FFD solid-state flash disk products in 2.5-inch IDE, 2.5-inch Narrow SCSI and 3.5-inch Narrow SCSI form factors.
