Luncheon draws masses to support affordable housing.

 Housing Conference/National Housing Conference drew over 1,000 guests December 12 for the 44th Annual Awards Luncheon, "It Began in New York: 75 Years of Housing."

Fox is a pioneer of affordable housing in New York, who developed the first settlement houses in the city in 1965 and eventually created the Settlement Housing Fund. "Sometimes, it seems we forget where we came from 75-years ago, to forget that we started the movement for public housing. What happened here 75 years ago is a tradition that needs to be carried out," Fox told the conference.

"I hope that those of you here today will carry on and try to accomplish some of the same kinds of things that I was able to accomplish, with the help of the people around me."

Councilwoman Christine Quinn took a break from back-to-back meetings to attend the conference and speak about one of the most important issues pertaining per·tain
