In 1926, a small group of investors in Salamanca, NY, backed a revolutionary idea--the manufacturing of engraved aluminum printing cylinders. The patented aluminum alloy was called Luminite, giving the company its name.

Luminite narrow web laser-engraved cylinders offer distinct advantages over traditional printing plates, starting with the design process. The seamless cylinder means there are no plate breaks to design around, and no need to distort the art.

Getting your design on a cylinder couldn't be easier. Laser engraving art can be prepared from a digital file, a sketch, a printed sample, a layout drawing, or from intermediate positive or negative film. We'll even serve as an intermediary with your design service. Whatever means you choose, we will provide you with proofs for your review before we implement the engraving. Colored thermal proofs or films are available.

In the pressroom, you'll experience shorter set-up time and no plate lift problems, so efficiency is increased. Quality is also enhanced, as the laser engraved rubber cylinders provide tighter registration and better ink release than most plates. Because properly cleaned and stored cylinders can last much longer than plates, there's a real cost savings, whether you're repeating a short run time after time, or printing the same design over a longer run.
