The tax would begin at 25 per cent when lumber is priced at, or below $225 per thousand board feet and would drop to zero when lumber prices topped $325. The proposal could also put a hold on all legal activities, giving both sides room to negotiate a long-term agreement. Rogel says the proposal is serious and can only work if both sides come to the table and are willing to give a little. |
