Luckman Interactive Announces Inclusion of Xing StreamWorks Server, Player and Encoder in Planned Update of WEB COMMANDER; First Multi-Media Web Server Software.


SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1996--Luckman Interactive, Inc., a leading provider of client/server software, Web directories and information content for the Internet, announced today at the Spring Internet World trade show that an agreement has been reached with Xing Technology Corporation to include their powerful StreamWorks technology in an update of Luckman's WEB COMMANDER, an all-in-one 32 bit World Wide Web server software solution for Windows NT and Windows 95 users who want to publish on the Internet and corporate Intranets. The inclusion of StreamWorks in WEB COMMANDER is expected within ninety days and is available free-of-charge as an update for anyone who purchases WEB COMMANDER prior to the release and registers with Luckman Interactive.

Luckman Interactive has licensed from Xing Technology a 128 kbps StreamWorks server for inclusion in the Windows 95 and Windows NT versions of WEB COMMANDER. Xing's server has a suggested list price of $495.00. In addition, the Windows 95 version of WEB COMMANDER will include a Low-Bit-Rate Audio Encoder from Xing and a StreamWorks Player (2.0). The Windows NT version of WEB COMMANDER will include a Player and a Xing MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs).  Audio and Video Encoder (2.0) which is based on the MPEG (Moving Pictures Expert Group) international compression standard for digital audio and video. Designed and optimized for the Internet by the pioneers of Internet streaming, the StreamWorks solution combines universally recognized standards and protocols for real time network transmission across any Intranet, WAN, LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area.
