Capitalizing on Lucent's expertise in building and operating communications networks The transmission channels interconnecting all client and server stations as well as all supporting hardware and software.  and Netscape's Internet experience, the two companies are delivering a portfolio of solutions that will enable Lucent customers to take advantage of the emerging "Net Economy" being driven by Internet-based commerce applications and services.

A key piece of Lucent's ECommerce Solutions is a multi-year, cooperative agreement in which Netscape will license to Lucent the Netscape(R) CommerceXpert suite of Internet commerce applications and Netscape(R) Application Server software. The agreement also calls for the companies to jointly market, sell and support Lucent's ECommerce Solutions to communications service providers A Communications Service Provider or CSP is a company that transports information electronically. The term encompasses public and private companies in the wireline, wireless, Internet, cable, satellite, and managed services businesses.  and large enterprise customers.

The strength of Lucent's ECommerce Solutions comes from the wide range of options available to customers through its portfolio, which will be available in both standard and customized solutions to address each customer's specific business and technology requirements. Lucent's ECommerce Solutions portfolio consists of three components: * --Lucent Professional Services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  - offering all the business process consulting, integration and operations services necessary to provide businesses with beginning-to-end project management. --Netscape Software - Netscape's CommerceXpert suite of electronic commerce applications and Netscape Application Server A Web-based application server from the Sun-Netscape Alliance that supports C, C++ and Java applications, Java servlets, JavaServer Pages (JSPs) and Enterprise JavaBeans.
